How to add the OzSTOC Facebook page to your Facebook Favorites
« Reply #1 on: August 26, 2012, 11:46:11 PM »
:CB-- OK one for the OzSOC Computer Geeks and Facebook Tragics
How to add the OzSTOC Facebook Page to your Favorites list in Facebook

1. Go to http://www.facebook.com/bookmarks/lists

2. Click on Create a List at the top of the page

3. Name the list “OzSTOC" or whatever you like or, remember you can add other "Facebook Pages" if you would like. If so then name it something meaningful for the topic. Hit “create list.”

4. Click “add friends” on the page you get. When that window opens, click the little box that says “friends” and drop it down to “pages.” Use the search box to pull up The OzSTOC and other pages you’d like to view with this list. Please note: Only pages that you already “like” will show up.

5. Hit “save.”

6. The list will now appear in your lefthand navigation below “favorites,” “groups,” and “apps.”

7. Move your mouse over the list name and pencil will appear to the left of it.

8. Click on “Add to Favorites” and this list pages will now be easily accessible and you’ll be able to see when there are new posts on it.

9. If you JUST want the OzSTOC on that list, that’s fine! You can have as many "Facebook Pages" added to favorites as you want.

I hope that helps anyone who wants to keep trackof the OzSTOC Facebook page without having togo searching for it each time.     :thumbsup

I wouldn't get into Facebook if it were the last place on the Internet, and that goes for Twitter and all the other similar sources of intrusion in your life. I completely fail to understand the fascination in telling total strangers what I had for breakfast, or what colour jocks I have on today, and any possible benefits involved in putting your life on the Internet cannot possibly justify the level of risk that comes hand-in-glove with it.

Sorry, as far as I'm concerned Facebook and it's ilk will never get my sucked in.
Cheers,
Paul

Hey Whiz,

We're not all 12 years old. Facebook does indeed have benefits if used properly just like email and this forum do. It's a communication tool that has in my opinion been over run.  The organization I work for (which is an emergency service) use it as one of many tools at our disposal to alert the public in times of emergencies. You'd be surprised at how many people respond to it.

But having said that, I undstand where your coming from. We need to understand the younger generation are doing a similar thing we used and talk sh?t down the pub with our mates. Young people use a different medium.

Cheers whizz. :)

the personal side of face i dont get into so much, but it has transformed how i promote firstly my business, and also OzSTOC.

You all would be surprised how many members we have that have found is through Social Media, I have got us media promotion through magazines by firstly posting on and then contacting them through their social media pages.

But I will go on record as saying, it is just an avenue to promote the group, it is there if you use facebook to like our page, if you are not interested, it is perfectly ok.

for example i have shared the very good video that Brett posted about safe riding, it is all about spreading the word!

if everyone always did the same thing the world would be a boring place......

cheers

Hey, Thanks H3ndo.

It's a case of take it or leave it, and if you leave it, hey that's fine. To each his own, and that's what make this country great. You can agree to disagree and still be mates. If whizz and Yorkie don't use Facebook that's no problem. But their here on OzSTOC to put in their 2 cents worth and that's what counts, good onya guys.

We went to facebook just to keep in touch with family etc. Heather has added video to hers and have video chat with her sisters. Though even among some family members discretion should still apply and not everything should be out there for all to see so I tend to use a PM for that.

Putting things like the ride to the border etc I'll put on my page and it will save me telling the same thing over and over...lol

Yorkie, and Sabie :-++

H3NDO, mate, just because Yorkie and I are the same age doesn't necessarily mean we don't understand 'new technology',  :rofl between myself and my wife we have three desktop computers, two laptops, 6GB of Network Attached Storage, two iPads, and two iPhones, all with high-speed broadband internet access; I have a 500GB download limit a month and use most of it, and I run a small software development company.  :CB--

My first computer was a TRS-80 which pre-dated the Commodore 64. It had a whole 16KB of ram and a tape drive to load software, and my first hard-drive was the size of a besser block and had an amazing 10MB of storage!

My point was that I can't see the point of Facebook and it's clones, and that it's risks, for me, outweigh any usefulness that I can see, but I was simply stating my own opinion, and I respect your right to express yours, if you like it fine, I don't.

Please don't take this as criticism 'cause it isn't meant that way, I simply don't see useful purpose for it, that's all. Now :beer and :popcorn on the other hand, now there I can see usefulness!! :thumbs :hatwave

Hmmmmmmmm Facebook eh.
Make friends with all these people find out everything about em. Be introduced to their friends. Over time find out where they all live. They tell me what their doing, when their doing it, when their going away, when their going on holidays.
Bloody excellent.
Me thinks Face Book is just the best, if I'm a thief.

If you set your security correctly. No one except the people You choose will be able to see your page.

Unfortunately the news stories to read and hear about 500 people turning up to someone's house because he posted it on FaceBook is because the little kiddies don't bother setting up their pages correctly and befriend EVERYONE, because to them it all about how many "friends" they have.

For the Rest of us a FaceBook page is about staying connected to friends who have moved away, sharing you experiences and life moments with the people you love.

Some people may find this boring...

Back when you had "Slide Nights" of someone's holiday I'm dam sure you would have liked to slit your wrists second slide into 200 odd.

Also with the chat and video feature, It's cheaper that a long distance phone call.

So in my opinion. FaceBook has it's place, if done right.

"True Story"'
So this bloke I met once who's mate wanted a new "PR"  chick does the interviews and it comes down to 2 fine young ladies. He can't choose between them for the job so his secretary  says check their Facebook Page. Soooooooooooo he gets the bloke that does things, cracks her/their so called Facebook security/password caper and ??? Bingo knows who he wants.

So yeah Facebook does have security, but only security for those that don't know how to breach it.

Ahhhh but then the above story might be only make believe :think1

I call BS. For starters that's illegal.

And if anyone uses easy to guess passwords then they deserve to be hacked.

(On a side note I had to get into my router the other week and tried all the usual passwords I use, only to discover I forgot to set it on on the router and was using the default "password" as the password...problem solved)
