Wanted - ST1100 Screen for cutting
« on: September 10, 2012, 12:00:13 PM »
People if anybody has a spare screen sitting on top of the pile in the corner, that they don't believe will be used can you give me a yell via PM, or posting here, please as I am looking for a screen to cut down for the NQ summer.  I have been running around without a screen for a couple of days and love the wind flow I am getting.

Thus I have decided that I just want to stop the bugs etc jamming up the back of my GPS & UHF radio so I am going to make my own shorty, and keep the high one I currently have for touring down south where the temperatures aren't as friendly.  Unless somebody has a reasonably priced touring screen better than mine, and I will chop my screen.

Thanks in advance people.
Steve

Been running mine cut down for years and me thinks you will never ever put the full size one back on. The ST's just a heap easier and better to ride. And its quieter with heaps less wind bufetting
My screen from to to bottom is a touch under a half a meter at 47m. I just used a broken hack saw blade with some tape on to protect my delicate hands when I cut it. Just drew a bit of a circle with a bit of string with a texta on it from one mark to the other :thumb
If you can't get a screen, find a joint that sells thick plastic/perspex, cut it to the size and get the bent shape by poring some really hot water over it. A mate made a screen for a Vespa by putting the perspex in a wheel barrow and poring the boiling water over it. Worked a dream
Now you can see in the photos that my GPS (Garmin Zumo) just sticks up but I have never had a bug on it???

I have 1 that has some cut of it for my laminar attempt.
it measures 310 mm from the very bottom which gives 70 mm above the cats eyes.
You are welcome to it even if it is only used as pattern maker.

pm me your addy and I will post it asap

I cut it gently with the fine blade on a 4" angle grinder but a dremel would be better

PM sent.  That height will be perfect for a shorty.

Thanks Tipsy.  Appreciate your help.

Cut down to 310mm from bottom to top at centre of screen.
