Wanted - ST1100 - police single seat mounting plate
« on: November 08, 2012, 10:43:04 AM »
Hi all - I want to mount a single police seat and cowl to my '99 ST1100. I'm looking for the mounting plate that is used beneath the cowl to which the seat lock attaches. I already have the seat and cowl.

Alternatively, has anyone made one of these from scratch and got a drawing/dimensions?

Thanks.

When I did my conversion I posted a 'find a part' request on the net and got the parts I needed.. http://www.findapart.com.au/. They are available but are pretty scarce.

If you don't get a response to your request I have one sitting on a bench here at home that I will be using on my bike, when my 11 y.o. boy gives me permission to take away his seat. |-i :cuss   He has already told me twice that I am risking bodily injury if I do. :spank

In short NO you can't have it :grin but I can send piccies and some dimensions for you.

Thanks for the responses - very helpful.

I have a request out on "Findapart" - had two negative responses so far, but I suppose something might turn up.

The bloke who sold me the seat now says he has found the bracket, so I'm in the process of negotiating with him (with my fingers crossed).

If that all falls apart, I may take up the offer of photos and dimensions - thanks for that offer - I'll pm you on that if it comes to that option.

I had intended to convert the cowl so that it can be used as storage, so I would be interested in how others have done it - thanks bloodbikes - I'll pm you about that.

Again, thanks for your help.

I have 2 sitting in my shed, no idea what it would cost freight wise from WA though. Let me know if you want to look into it further.

I think I have one coming my way from the bloke who sold me the seat (probably should have been with the seat to start with, but that is my fault for not asking).

Thanks for the offer - at the moment I won't take you up on it, but if the bracket/plate doesn't arrive then I may change my mind. Thanks again Yorkie.

On the possibility of a new part - I notice that the Aussie site (in Mt Gambier, I would guess) is not a lot cheaper for spares than the dealers, although they are a bit cheaper and for light (as in, not heavy and therfore expensive to post) parts it would be worth using them. Many thanks for that link Alans1100.

I eagerly await the postie to see what is supposed to be on its way to me....

Hi all,
I now have a plate, seat and cowl, so I am, as they used to say on "The Bill", sorted!

Thanks for the input and offers of help. Very much appreciated.
