My friend Wendy wants to get her bike licence. She has been riding pillion since a teenager but is sick of looking over my shoulder and wants to steer for herself. She has been puttering about the paddock on one of my old Honda SL125s, and is getting to the stage where the fence and lemon tree are safe. I have been working on restoring a Yamaha YB100 commutor bike for her to use on the street when on 'L's to learn the roadcraft. Last year when she decided to get her licence I bought a Yamaha 250 Virago (nice easy power and low seat height) for her and it will be ready for her this year. I will be very proud of her the day she passes the test and look forward to many miles together.

I asked my wife if she would be interested getting her own bike.. she's shown some interest but still wants to ride pillion. I once had a little Yamaha (RD125?) 125cc road bike and it even had panniers. It was actually quite a nice bike.. just not much good for the open road. A 250cc roady might be good to learn roadcraft for shorter open road trips tho!

Will be a permanent pillion here, I can't ride the kids push bikes without landing on my tush.  :rofl

They make a bike for people like that, we are looking at one for my girlfriend who's never ridden before in her life... Should be interesting  :runyay
