Flat battery

(1/1)

Joso:
Put new battery in St1100p keeps going flat after only 2 hrs

Biggles:
Just like every other battery, they eventually die.

There's been some talk on here about Lion batteries.
One major drawback compared to lead acid batteries is that unlike Joso's experience where it faded away, the Lithium battery will just drop dead without warning.

West Aussie Glen:

Joso said the battery is new. New batteries should not die in two hours.

Either you have a bad one or there is something strange with your bike.
If the battery is OK there must be some electrical drain on your bike. Maybe heated grips left on?

Biggles:
Sorry- misinterpreted the message.  Hadn't expected a new battery to die.  As Glen says, get the bike charge/ drain electrics checked and if OK, return the battery.  They all have at least a one year warranty, most have two years.

DaleMcLean:
Being a "P" there will have been loads of extras catred for, SO some of its wiring will still be there and maybe even connected to soem stuff.

They also had a habit of adding a second battery directly connected, without isolation, to the "main" battery. If its still inplace and dead it wwill drain the new battery quick smart.

it will need some investigation with a meter to find out just where the charge is being sucked to.
