Removal of carburettors from ST1100

I need help with removal of carburettors from a 2000 model ST 1100 I have followed Clymer's manual and loosened the 4upper screws on the intake manual clamps (step9) step 10 says lift carburettors and separate each carb from it's intake manifold. My problem is that I can't move them I huff and puff but there. Is no movement. It seems to be stuck firm in the manifolds. Is there something I am missing? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I had the same issue earlier this year.

I used a broom handle to give some extra gentle persuasion to lever them out. You need to be careful where you place the broom on the carb and then using the frame as the fulcrum point just gently push down. the same for both sides.

You should replace the carb insultors as the old ones would have gone hard and also it's much easier to replace the carbs. While your in there check the hoses and the elbows that mount the hose to the block.

As Alan says.  To make the job easier a small amount of grease helps get the carbs back on.  One tip is to paint the various screw heads with white paint (manifold, carb adjustment screws) which makes getting to them a whole lot easier.
