Moving advice
« on: February 03, 2012, 10:03:55 AM »
Well people after moving house (yay we finally bought one) I can say that EVERYONE here needs to know that when moving MAKE SURE the previous occupiers have the phone and internet disconnected.

Because YOU CANT authorise theirs to be disconnected and YOU CANT GET YOURS till it is  :cuss :cuss

It has taken a full week just to get some sort of internet connection,4 different USB dongles failed, I now have a WiFi card in the 'puter and a WiFi preapid thingie

The landline was diverted to my mobile, but now gets the message "this number is disconnected" and I cant do a thing about it.

REALLY helps when you run a business ( NOT )

At least I got to ride around here  :thumbs and in another few weeks can actaully ride wherever I want to  :nahnah
I may ride a Ducati, but I've rode lots of (other peoples :-) ) ST's

What I do www.DMME.com.au and www.StarCom1.com.au

I recently had a similar situation but reversed. I had to go from Optus to Telstra 'causes Optus didn't service the area into which we were moving. I organised for Telstra to come in and fit the new line the day after settlement but they arrived a month early, then argued with the previous owners, who were still living there and packing up to move out, saying that they (Telstra) were going to disconnect their phone and Internet. To say the previous owners were unimpressed would be the understatement of the year! Got it sorted without blood-shed, but I really wish these people would read paperwork before starting an argument!.

Cheers, and congrats for the new house, I hope you'll be very happy there!
