Hi, I've hab an st in the past and loved it. Just got a 1999 ex police bike, wondering if the lever on the right thumb is throttle hold, if no how do I decrease the resistance of the throttle to stay on ?

Welcome to the site.

A picture of the offending fitting would help, the Police Switch block doesnt come with a throttle friction lever.

If it's not a friction lever how do I get the throttle to rotate freely ?

Flip the lever up, and it will reduce friction. There should be a grub screw in the fitting opposite the knob. The device is a cheap after market throttle lock, it should be easy to remove if you dont want it.

There is a ton of advice available, for upgrading your ST and how to use the switch cluster.

just click on this link, and it will take you to the Ulysses Inc website, there is a join button . Click on that fill the info, and send a copy of your licence (and pay the fee) and you are done.

You could also see where the local branch meets, go along to a meeting ( you may find that it isnt for you, it happens sometimes), they Committee can help you out.

Is 1100py the police mod ?
My bike is a 1999 but when I look up parts it's a 2000 1100py ?

PY is the police model, can be confirmed by the volt meter on the left of the dash, the headlight adjust knob that usually lives there is under the right engine maintenance cover. The speedo is also calibrated in 2K increments. It may also be a solo seat version.

2000 is the model year which is what the Y also means on your Police version. The previous Police would have been a PT or 1996 model.

The VIN plate should have the month and year of manufacture.

Yes speedo matches, volt meter matches, headlight adjust is on right fairing.

I dont recall a particular page, its a simple task.

You need to work out where you want the socket (Merit/BMW or cigarette or both). Its then a matter of running a cable with an inline fuse from the battery to the socket.

Try to keep the wiring neat, and tucked away from anything that can pinch.

The closest power is the battery, its on the left, just behind you leg under the side cover. It where I have my socket wired, I use a 15 amp fuse, as the compressor takes a bit of power. never use a compressor without the engine running, you wont start the bike if you do.

Yeh got the cover off and the battery charging. Just hoped there would be a closer pickup point.

It will have to wait till the weekend, its dark and cold out. Not that there is much to see, as everything is tucked away. I also tend to use Honda plugs to connect everything as it makes taking panels off a bit easier.

I am an aero electrician by trade, so I like my wiring as neat as I can get it. No soldering and covering with tape.

Nice, I'm ex telecom, box stitched cables and all joins heat shrinked.
Must admit with the new bike he told me the brake like in the guvi box blew a fuse each time it was plugged in. I did cheat and cover the breaks in the insulation with hot glue.
Who leaves shap points on a solder joint ?
