Title: Automatic ST1100
Post by: Calsonic on April 20, 2020, 11:23:35 AM
Hi all,

I am still on the lookout for a reasonable ST1100. I recently came across one in nice condition but its an automatic. I had no idea they even existed. So I was wondering if anyone with experience in this area could give me the pros and cons of an automatic ST?

I don't want to regret my purchase so I would really appreciate any and all advice and information on this.

Cheers

Not aware of an ST1100 auto version, a quick Google search didn't help.  Someone will be along soon to correct me if I'm wrong.

Where are you looking?

There's a few on Gumtree, one for only $1500 OBO, doesn't look or sound like much is needed.
Although the seller could've put a bit more in the description (well, anything) and posted better pics.

But, that's a lotta bike for not a lotta bucks.

I betcha it was on Facebook's Market Place... :thumb
When I bought my ST it too said it was an automatic.
I think it's just an issue with people not selecting the right options when they set up their Ad...

You are correct. If this is just a mistake that would be awesome because I was not totally sold on an automatic version. I have messaged the guy to ask the question.

I took a look at that. Looks like its in need a some real TLC. I am hoping to find one is good rideable condition so I don't have to spend too much on it straight away. Thats why I'm taking my time. Been looking for a year now.

A look?  Just on-line, or did you see it in the flesh

If I was closer, like about 1,500km closer, I'd been looking at it in a flash.  It would have to be pretty bad condition (like the ST13 I bought as a "project"), before I would discount for my future sidecar project.

I get what you are saying Williamson, however, I'm not looking for a project right now, I'm looking for a ride. The one I am hopefully picking up on Tuesday has reasonably low Kms and in very nice condition so I am happy to pay more for getting something that needs litte to no work done before it can hit the road :-)

Of course I will add farkles, but that can happen in time. Perhaps I'll but a second one at a later date as a side project.

Cheers
