Title: Hi from Little old Adelaide
Post by: Ozzicub on December 20, 2020, 04:02:03 PM
Hi everyone. Wife and I bought a beautiful black 2010 beast. Absolutely loving the bike. Our furthest ride so far has only been around 500kms but we are building up to longer rides and hopefully trips away. Only 2 faults I can find are 1, the heat that comes off in warmer weather. Holy Cow!!! Wasn't ready for that. Also, the lack of cruise control really bugs me. I'm looking at fitting the MC Cruise system as seen in Shineys video.

Happy travels everyone.

Hi Ozzicub and another welcome to OzSTOC from Adelaide's south.   :hatwave  You'll find lots of advice and information here, and I hope we will catch up at the Greenman Inn at Ashbourne on 10th Jan.

The heat is a well known issue with the ST1300 and one "fix" is to fit a decent sheepskin seat cover, which will seal the joint between the seat and tank, reventing hot air from escaping there.

Hi Ozzicub and welcome to the group from a fellow Adelaidian. Pete is on the money regards a good, fitted sheepskin, it really does help. I've also cut down my OEM windscreen very similar to another Shiney post (I think it was Shiney, I'll have to check), and install it at the beginning of summer and change back to the Bikequip screen I bought in a group buy a couple of years ago. I find it really helps to extend comfy riding as the temps increase.

G'day Ozzicub, welcome to the forum mate :hatwave

My old ST1300 had heat issues, the fix for me was to add a Bagster Tank cover this did a great job of stopping the heat.

Here is a blue one on my blue ST1300:

And a black one on my white ST1300:

It stops the heat from the tank getting to my legs :thumbsup

Cheers
