Can we make this 6.00pm at the Silverton Pub, rather than midday, as that change would better suit those who need to stay overnight?

Yeah, a lunch meet is a bit awkward with travel times and accomodation, and I would prefer an evening meet.  But will try and fit in whatever is arranged.

Well, what a nice state of affairs we currently found ourselves in, putting a big question mark over the ability of some of us to attend this RTE.  By "us" I mean Victorians or others travelling through Victoria to get to the RTE because of the restrictions relating to persons leaving Victoria.

I have not followed restrictions (if any) relating to travel to or fro, or within NSW / ACT, members from other States and Territories may be along soon to advise.

Anyways, fingers and toes are crossed in hope that Victoria gets over the current crisis very soon, and soon enough that the current two week restriction relating to persons leaving Victoria will be over in time for us to travel to Silverton, or travel plans and bookings will need to be amended.

I have a booking for Culgoa on the way to, and Nigel and I have a booking for Nandaly on the way from; these can be simply cancelled, or postponed.

Nigel and Terry, you may need to likewise re-think your Mildura bookings.

Its just a wait and see on this one. Mildura Accom is just a phone call and no fees, whilst Silverton is 2 days prior notice without penalty.

Let the Covid gods be on our side.

So, I`ll only pull the pin if we can`t do it, as per restrictions. Wot thuh

In VIC, if the rego lapses for three months (or more), the rego is cancelled altogether.  To re-register the bike (or car, whatever), you will need a RWC (~$220 - JD will know), may be some repairs (more $$?), an appointment ($$), rego plate fee ($$), and rego fee ($$).  Even if only for three months, you won't get much chamge outta $500.  And if your only m/c, the Levy.

Gotta pay for Dan-the-Man stuff-ups, and government employee junkets.

I don't know specifics but South Australia has seasonal registrations.  I've never looked into it because I ride almost every day.

In ACT, and I am not aware of any other State or Territory that allows this, but I can let registration on my cars, trailers/caravan and motorbikes lapse up to one day less than 12 months or any period in between, and I can go online and chose a reregistration period of 3, 6 or 12 months, pay online and the vehicle is instantly registered from that day for the chosen period.

Online at 1340, paid my $175 for 3 months rego, hopped on the bike at 1400 and went for a nice sunny, but only 14c, ride.

Bookings... Mildura I booked directly with the Motel, so no problems with cancelations.

Silverton, booked online have until 23.59 June 17 Thursday night to cancel or full charge.

This will probably be OK, as we will know if we can go or not?

I don't think we have anywhere in mind for lunch.  Last visit to Broken Hill was 2012, and whilst there was plenty of nice eateries, I wouldn't be confident that any particular would still be okay, so I reckon that we'll just wing it.  If you look for a coupla BMWs, a Triumph and the Mighty ST1300 out the front of this building, we can check out the cafes as we stretch our legs,

I hope you're right, JD...

You may need to check border restrictions though.
From what I've read so far, Melburnians will be able travel intrastate...no mention so far about being able to cross into NSW, well as far as I can see.
Perhaps that will be clarified come Friday??? :think1

Anyways, at this point I believe you'll need to complete a travel declaration within 24 hours immediately before you enter NSW, or on entry.
And...you'll also need a permit to re-enter Victoria...

Good luck with it all... :thumbs

Strictly speaking we all will be leaving more than 24 hours before crossing the border into NSW.  So I'll have a small laptop / tablet with me (I find it easier to use than an iPhone, much bigger screen and less fat finger mistakes), so as I can log-on and make my NSW declaration within 24 hours of crossing the border into NSW.  Probably will do this when we get to Mildura Friday afternoon, before the beers start, otherwise leave it to Saturday before we leave.

Nigel, Terry & Steve can use it, if they find it easier - only a small fee applies, beer is a recognised currency.

 :beer

When registering, you put in an email address and a copy of your declaration is emailed to you to keep on you iPhone or whatever.

Application for a permit to re-enter VIC (yes, one is needed) is not limited to 24 hours prior to enrty.  I have already sorted that one out, and saved it on my iPhone.

... at one stage looked like it wasn’t going to happen.

Yes but it did, and not without me (and probably others) with multiple checks of the BOM website to ensure that we would have a fair weather ride.

I headed north around 8:00am Friday and despite some forecasts of some rain enroute I encountered only a heavy mist on the way to Heathcote to meet Nigel.  There needs to be a meeting point, where better (at Heathcote) than Gaffney's Bakery.

Whilst waiting, I sampled the bakery fare, suffice to say that I'll return for another sausage roll and a coffee.

Nigel arrived around 9:45am, downed his coffee and we were back on the bikes and headed north via Elmore, then east via Pairie and Boort to Wycheproof (a bit of a detour to avoid traffic, added around 20km, but only a few minutes).  Lunch at the Bakery on Broadway at Wychie, fuelled up and heaed north again.  A pitstop at Ouyen and then Mildura by around 4:30pm.

Bikes were tucked-up for the night and as Terry and Steve has a coupla beers ready,we settled in for a chin wag ...

When thediscussion became dry we went for a walk (code for visited a coupla clubs) and then ordered a pizza.  The coupla beers turned into a few more ...

We slept well.

Saturday ... an early start, fuel for bikes and riders at Wentworth - Jackpot Bakery on Adam Street (Silver City Highway), and then we headed north, about half-way to Broken a short stop at the Coombah Truck Stop.  Short because it was closed, Steve wanted to top up his fuel, but had to wait until he got to Broken Hill.

My last visit to Coombah was in 2012, it was June's Roadhouse then, there's a ride report on this AusTouring thread, in particular post #19 - http://austouring.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3970&highlight=coombah&page=4 (http://austouring.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3970&highlight=coombah&page=4)

At Broken Hill PC found us and then we went for lunch was at Charlotte's at the Grand in Argent Street (the main street) - https://www.google.com/maps/place/Charlotte's+at+the+Grand/@-31.9584521,141.4656461,20.5z/data= (https://www.google.com/maps/place/Charlotte's+at+the+Grand/@-31.9584521,141.4656461,20.5z/data=)!4m13!1m7!3m6!1s0x6aef3360de52c2cd:0x40609b490440170!2sBroken+Hill+NSW+2880!3b1!8m2!3d-31.9595859!4d141.4608138!3m4!1s0x6aeeac293b37985f:0x209a2933424435ff!8m2!3d-31.9583936!4d141.4659628.

Despite the grumpy service (may have been June's sister that served us), the coffee and food was good, and is recommended.

A short walk after lunch, some charming, lovely old buildings, lots of history, worth at least a two day visit next time, then a short ride to Silverton.

Johnny, Jonathon and Vera arrived and we settled into our digs.

At around 4 O'Clock I could hear a beer calling our names, so PC, Steve, Nigel and I found the bar.  Ahh, Toohey's Dark Old on tap - YES!!!  The couple of hours to dinner were usefully fulfilled.

Dinner was inside, well a covered veranda, and despite a coupla heaters it was a tad cool.  The menu was quite acceptable, I think everyone enjoyed what was on offer.

It wasn't a late night for me, returned to the cabin around 9:00pm.

I'm sure others have pics to post.
