Title: What looks like perish cracks
Post by: youngSTer on November 12, 2012, 09:57:47 AM
Hi All, I fitted a Metzeler front tyre about 7000ks ago and I have just noticed what looks like perish cracks around the tyre either side of the centre line.
Just phoned the dealer and his comment was the if they look like spider legs there is nothing to worry about as he sees this all the time.
What is the opinion of fellow ST owners?

Might help to post a photo, and how old are they. 7000ks is not a lot , so shouldnt be showing signs of failure

Hi Brock, I purchased these on 24th September 2012 and will post photo when I can. My internet is down and Testra tell me it could be up to 5 days before it is restored. Using work puter at the moment.

Should not be perish marks then, are the tyres around 40PSI, if under inflated the tyres can wear funny..

I run the tyres at 42psi for normal riding but increase to around 46psi when heavily laden.
