Title: Test Ride after timing belt repairs
Post by: alans1100 on April 10, 2013, 11:31:01 PM
Bike registered this morning, fueled up and then it was off to Port Pirie for a reasonable test ride. Lunch at Macca's (Aussie slang for MacDonalds), a little bit of shopping at K-Mart and Cole's supermarket. Bought more than we planned but managed to squeeze it all in two side cases and one top case. Return trip 219.4 kms.

Bike never missed a beat, throttle response......better than it has been. 60 to 110 kph fourth gear.....impressive and similar for 80 to 110 kph in 5th. Managed 50 kph in 5th gear, though I normally use 4th
Temp gauge remains constantly in the low side of the normal range.........

Heather mentioned that the bike had a rattle sound when I took it out of the back yard. Thought I fixed that.
Turns out what she heard was the ABS self test when the bike first moves off.

Hopefully my fuel average will improve over the next few fill ups.

Great to hear that the bike is up and running again after lots of surgery, and you saved yourself a fair bag of gold by doing the work yourself.   :thumb

Went for another little ride yesterday..........well maybe not so little as we went to Dad's and back again so that's about 580 kms return and topped the tank at Waikerie ( used 8 cent voucher) on the back at 369 kms and took 19 litres even or just over 19 k/L. Can't complain at that number for 110 kph and two up

Was also first ride after hernia op two weeks ago. http://ozstoc.com/index.php?topic=3940.0 (http://ozstoc.com/index.php?topic=3940.0)

The real test will come in a few weeks when I'm fit enough to put the trailer on the bike.

Next time you do a rebuid, get some one to help lift the engine out/in. You wont need a hernia op then   :|||| :||||

Thanks. Still can't do anything much yet. I need to check the coolant level and top if required after putting the bike back together but I can't put the bike on centre stand for at least another month. At least I can still see some in the bottle so it can't be to bad.

As for the next year, third time lucky I guess.
