Thanks to Saaz for this is excellent post. Regular disassembly and cleaning of the screen mechanism may well save you the expense of replacing the entire screen mechanism. I recently had my screen mechnaism fail ... http://ozstoc.com/index.php?topic=4230.0 (http://ozstoc.com/index.php?topic=4230.0) and relacement was a fairly expensive exercise. Mind you, removal and disassembly of the mechanism as described, is not a quick and simple task, but my time costs me nothing.

Mr Sheen, or Turtle Wax Bug and Tar Remover. Use either after cleaning the screen with water and mild detergent on a soft cloth.
