Title: removable back rest for an 1100 ??
Post by: spanner on September 22, 2015, 10:08:14 AM
I have had a search and can not find anything.

Does anyone know if a removable back rest for the rider of a ST1100 is available?

Or does anyone know if any DIY plans are available for a removable back rest?

I am looking for one to put on the beaST when I do LD rides but then want to remove it when I use it as a regular commuter bike for my 9-5 job.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Buy a single seat and pod, ex police set up. Very comfy.

Interesting idea.

Do you know where I would start looking for one?

Ask around OZSTOC members first in buy and sell, try eBay uk they have a lot more stuff available than the Aussie site.

hey mate,
Did you have a thread somewhere asking about ideas for a comfy saddle?  Here is an idea that worked for us.
Have a look around locally for motor trimmers. We got Coburn Motor Trimmers, down here in Mackay, to take off our seat cover, trim off 20mm-30mm of the OEM seat foam and replace it with softer stuff. He then covered again with our seat cover, we rode it down to NSW and back, gave it back to him and got him to adjust the trim a little... and voila... a really comfy, all day long saddle for me and Kate... all for $280... and in his shop for a few days. He also replaced our OEM seat cover with some grippy seat cover material (included in the price). Doesn't mean that your arse gets any less wet when it rains though!
Best idea... get yourself down here... ride around on our saddle... get dreamin' & schemein'. Cheers. John & Kate.
