Grahams Pre New Years Ride
« on: December 28, 2015, 01:37:13 PM »
Well it was a beautiful day here in Toowoomba for a ride, i was going to do a sunrise ride, but i may have woken up, and then gone back to sleep....

so it was more like the sun was up but it was still early by the time i left, i took my usual course down Flagstone creek road onto Ma Ma Creek Road
and it was just Glorious, the photos i took came out clear as crystal

My plan was to have Breakfast at the floating cafe, but it was closed, i thought never mind, off to Forest Hill, and to Cafe 4342, nope closed to!

Luckily when i got to Laidley Kellies Diner was open, so it was a bottle of water and a BLT for a quick break

I headed for Esk, and without much of a plan, i saw a little spot called Hamon Cove that i had not been into before, which was full of boats, people and fishing lines, but is a very pretty little spot!

After a quick look i wheeled in to Enigmas for a coffee before the run up the hill

BUT...as i was taking the handsome selfie above, the rider in the picture pointed out my chain guard had come adrift.....

Thankfully i always carry Zip ties with me, and a quick fix and i was good to go!

Returned home Via Esk-Hampton road, which is one of my favourite roads in Australia

I am very lucky to live in the Toowoomba Region, we have access to some amazing backroads, wonderful views, and great places to stop!

All in all it was a gentle 200km trip, and i am kinda sad i am sitting here typing this than still not out on the bike!

Uh oh!  Now that wouldn't have happened if you'd stuck with the ST!     :-(((
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

I'm talking specifically about chain guards.

Hey Graham,
Looks like you are quite taken with the new light weight bike...... Do you find your more enclined to whip it out and throw a leg over for a quick afternoon delite then you were with its predecessor ?
I jus wanna ride my bike

To be honest yes for a quick 100-200 blast it is really easy to pull the strom out knock it over and i am home.

but for the longer trips i have had to tip all my packing and organising on its head as i have less space to play with than the ST....

so the is pluses and minuses to be had....
