ST is not playing the game. It starts, rides well but just keeps blowing the one 10amp fuse.
HONDA ST1100 1999 50th Anniversary with TCS/ABS and DBS.
3 weeks ago blew the 10amp fuse marked tail light. (Tail light/Horn/Dash lights)
Replaced the fuse ran for 10-15 minutes. Blew fuse
Replaced the fuse started the bike idled fine – accelerated – Blew fuse
Replaced fuse turned key on – Blew fuse immediately
All other fuses OK and intact – Bike runs all other functions working
STARTED TROUBLE SHOOTING
Started to remove fairing and found trailer plug in rear cowling. Appears OK.
Disconnected ALL accessories wiring to Battery (Spotlights, 12V cig plug etc)
Started bike – Blew fuse immediately
Removed handlebar cover and checked wiring around handlebar - No bare wires
Removed rubber sleeve from cluster of wires going to indicator housing – No bare wires
Checked all visible wires and connections – No bare wires and no other issues.
Checked Tail light assembly - Tail light not working , Brake light working.
Removed tail light assembly completely
Started bike – Blew fuse immediately
Replaced fuse – All feature working including Horn and dash lights - accelerated - Blew fuse immediately.
Replaced fuse with 15amp fuse – Turned key on - Blew fuse immediately
Removed Trailer plug completely from system.
Replaced fuse – Turned key on - Blew fuse immediately
Cleaned all contacts and electrical switches with Electrical contact cleaner.
Replaced fuse – Turned key on - Blew fuse immediately
Took most of the other fuses from the fuse box (except one for ignition starter)
Turned bike on everything worked. Started it up everything worked. Accelerated. BLEW THE FUSE IMMEDIATELY
