Just checked it out on their website, and see it requires the wiring harness to make the light work. Do they include this in the kit or is it an extra cost?
It stands to reason they would but just wondering...
Cheers,
Peter.

I fitted it last night couldn't wait, markings for the holes are on the underside of the Top Box lid did a couple of pilot holes & worked up to the 9.5mm holes required, took about an hour & a half. I wired it using bullet connectors & twin wire cabling just spliced into the stop light & earth wires. I mainly wanted it for the eye level stop light. will post piccies tonight (I'm at work ATM)

Looks great!  I deduce it's a quick unplug of the electricals to take the box off.

That sets the top box off nicely.
Scarp, did you make the aerial mounting bracket?

I've done this job twice now: the first in 2003/04 then again a few months ago.  This most recent time, I ordered the spoiler/light and wiring harness from David Silver Spares almost a year ago, just before they notified everyone that they would be halting all accessory sales to bikes younger than 10 years.

Here are some pics from the final job:

When I did this same task in 2003/4 on my first (silver) ST1300, David Silver Spares wasn't selling any wiring harness - you had to make your own in those days.  This is what that silver one looked like:

Thanks to one of the US forums, I was able to get detailed instructions for wiring.  These included installation with diodes and resisters to make the spoiler light a combined running and brake light.  I have not yet done this job on my current ST but one day will (I have the parts ready to go).

So i take it as you can get the colour to suit the bike provided its older than ten years.

My guess is they still had stock when scarp ordered his, because David Silver Spares (DSS) no loner advertises that they sell accessories or parts for newer bikes (they were always specialists in parts for older bikes).

I visited their location (north of London) in 2007 and it wasn't flash but they had some great old bikes parked in the front office area.  I bought quite a bit of stuff off them over the years for my STs and its a shame they no longer supply the more recent stuff. Maybe they were undercutting so many dealers they were forced to stop, I don't know.

Anyway, ST1300s and their top boxes only appeared in 2002/03 (or so), so there will be none older than 10 years.  And as for more recent ones, you could order the colour to match standard ST1300 colours.  Whether DSS still have stock, you'd have to contact them and ask.
Good luck.

I just searched by the part No I got off Honda Aust site I emailed & they gave me a price.
I thought of wiring with a Diode & having it as a taillight & Brakelight but I prefer the brake light only option as it gets the car drivers attention more

They list the ST1300 and 1300A models as year 2002 which would be our 2003 model.

Apart for specific colours for models after that, then most parts on the 2003 model would also be available for all models.
