Eliteserien 2020
« on: November 23, 2020, 07:43:59 AM »
My passion long before bikes came around was football, real football, not this Clayton's football you play/watch when you don't play/watch football.  Many of you know my original username here was Bodø/Glimt, a football club in Norway.  I never thought I'd see the day in my lifetime but this morning (local time) we became champions of Norway for the first time ever.  With five games remaining we are also on course to set an all time points record for a season too.  Expect me to be on cloud nine for a while.  Who said 2020 was a bad year?

Here's a smashing wrap from the beeb a few minutes ago.  I can understand the 'kamikaze' refence as we have smashed in a lot of goals but keep very few clean sheets.

Congratulations Bodo, it's always good when your team has a meritorious year, but I must say 104 years between drinks is an awfully long time (the first drink being the formation of the club). WRT Brocks meme, I have much respect for Rugger, but it is always good to remember the old truism - the difference between ball sports like football (round ball, Aussie rules, rugby), and MotoGP is - with the ball sports, you only need one ball.  Two MotoGP's in a row, Jack Miller and Franco Morbidelli rode like men possessed for podium finishes. I watch in awe of these guys.

Speaking of MotoGP, last nights race ended up a bit of a fizzer in regards to the newly crowned world champion!  :o

Better news though with Remy Gardner pulling off his first win in Moto2...woohoo!!!!  :beer

I have much respect for Rugger

The Bodø Barbarians Rugby Sports klubb won the national rugby title in 2015 for the første time.  I don't follow it though.

The season finally wrapped up on tuesday.  What a year it turned out to be.  Not only did we win the title for the first time but we went on to obliterate some league records.

Most points in a season.
71 was the previous record and we finished with 81.  Out of a possible 90 that's going to take some beating.

Most wins in a season.
We equalled the record of 22 when we clinched the title and went on to finish with 26.  This included a 100% home record as well.

Most goals in a season.
103 is 16 more than the previous record of 87 and we're the only club to have notched up triple figures in a league season.

Biggest winning margin.
19 points separated us from second placed Molde.  The previous record was 15 and was set in 1995.

Biggest goal difference.
+71 eclipses the +67 set by Rosenborg in 1997.  Second to forth's goal difference combined comes to +74

Those were the ones I knew of before the final game but it turns out we smashed more records than I thought.  You can add to that list most home wins, most points at home, most away wins, most points on the road, most consecutive wins at the start of a season, lowest home losses, most goals at home and the first team to score in every game of the season.

Who knows what will happen next year.  Come the january transfer window I am guessing clubs from bigger league of Europe will come and poach players.

Earlier records:

Bodo does this mean Bodo-Glimt gets elevated (as opposed to relegated) to a higher level or are they already playing the highest level in Norway?
I must say, there are some Odd team names in the competition (sorry, I'll let myself out).

This is the highest level.  Three years ago we were in the second tier.  We're a yo-yo club, one that often gets promoted and related.  Brann actually hold the world record for the club being being promoted and relegated in the most successive years from 1979 to 1987.
