hi guys 

as i am new to the S T world, i was wondering about service prices, i have been quoted $400 for a major service, is this a good price, or is it dear ??????????

Well that all depends on what you  are getting done

I do my own oil and filters and it does need a rocket syi...cynt/...need more beer...expert to change spark plugs but you have to be one to tune puta.
I have 1100 no puta very simple 

Get sons do work I drink beer give directions.

I once worked in a bike shop, not sales or workshop and friends would tell me how that bike shop 'serviced' customers bikes.
I know that they would charge customers for work that was not done.
I know that they did not pay Yamaha (or whichever company) for bikes that they had sold that they still had on floor plan. (it means they don't pay for them until they tell the supplier they have sold them)
I know that a lot of the stock in the shop was owned by the importers and if not sold was returned at no cost.
When I realised how things happened I left, haven't spoken to them since.
Some people think that good service is indicated by the relationship they have with the bike shop.
Surely not all bike shops are run the same, the other shop in town has a good reputation.

$400 is up there for a major service, but if the bike shop has an excellent reputation, then an extra few dollars is worth it.

I find peace of mind comes at a cost sometimes. Your going to have to try this bike shop and see what you think. If they treat you and your bike right making you a happy customer then it's worth the $ to you. I'm lucky in the fact that I am local to four Honda dealers but there's only one shop gets to work on my bike. It's been that way for years too. Part of the whole motorcycle thing is getting to know your bike shops try as many as you can. Be wary of the input from other bikers too. Just because the bike shop wouldn't give your mate a massive/unreasonable discount on his oil filter dosen't make them a bad shop.
So Brad, if you weren't in sales or the workshop what did you do at the bike shop???

The bike shop holds the local contract for the NSW Roads and Traffic Authority Rider Training.  I was instructing new licence holders so they had a basic ability to control a motorcycle and met the required standard before being issued a Learners Licence.
