Ulysses ride to Neville NSW 2012

 Neville 2012
Well that was a good 3 day ride. Good Weather, Good company and Good roads.
We left West Wyalong at 1130am Saturday at a balmy 9 degrees with no wind and clear skies. 9 degrees is warm as the ST Owners club ride to Tarana pub 3 weeks ago it was 6 degrees all day.
We had a good ride thru Grenfell and landed at Cowra for lunch at 1330. Headed off to Mandurama and turned off to do the 17kms towards Neville only to find the bridge had been washed away and road closed. Quick U turn and head back to the highway. We continued on to Blayney and turned off there towards Barry and then Neville and were the 1st to arrive at 1530.
Soon the other characters started to arrive -
Greetings were followed by a few drinks and a walk to the pub for a chat, grog and a good feed. The locals did a good job feeding the hungry mob keeping us full of drinks.
The cold night air met us on the way back to the goods shed. It was nice to sit around inside, warming our hearts, catching up with friends and new mates and making everyone forget their normal woes. The Infamous Spa Boys made a guest appearance. They are rumoured to be going on tour to the AGM next year  . I got Man of the Match at 0130am as all the others had piked it off to bed:
0730am wake up and off to the showers for a nice warm dance in the water. I walked back from the shower thru thunderous applause   in my towel to the room for a change into day clothes and then brekky.
The air was brisk at 9 degrees as we clothed up and got the bikes ready for the days ride. Jeanette and I had decided to keep touring so we waved goodbye to our friends as they headed home, and were last to leave the compound.
We headed south to Cowra for a warm up coffee. The temp had risen to 12 degrees ( Nearly warm enough to get the towel out again ) We then headed to Boorowa, Turning off to Young for lunch at KFC. Then we headed to Wallendbeen and turned off onto the old Gundagai rd towards Coolac ( That was great riding - Must do that road again ) and down the Hume Hwy to Gundagai and turned off and headed up to Tumut. We got in at 1530 ( 15 degrees ) and ended up in nice surrounds at the Amaroo Motel in Tumut ( They advertise in the Ulysses mag so we gave them a go - Very friendly people in the process of upgrading their rooms with under cover parking for us riders  ) .
A bit of romance , poppy nap and then we went out for a feed of chinese. A night cap and a 10hr sleep was just what the Dr ordered
8am rise, Coffee and cooked brekky and warm the bike ready for day 3. We left at 10am and headed for Adelong and then down the mountain to the Hume Hwy for the trip into Wagga to visit the Olds. We spent a few hrs with them ( Thats normally hard working shift work on rotating rosters ) and then headed home via Coolamon, Ariah Park thru some great back roads in the warm sun ( 15 degrees ) to West Wyalong.
We covered 900kms, experienced some great riding, enjoyed Old and new friends and got to enjoy the good side of life for a change ( Something which is hard to get in my line of work ) Thank You all for a very enjoyable long weekend

Cheers

Tony & Jeanette

So now Goldwing pillions wear seat belts?
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott
