The local Honda dealer did not seem at all interested in chasing up wheter any more ST13s were available at the runout price. They did have a cheap VFR1200 with all the hard bags and topbox for around $17k ride away, but it is definitely not an ST13 replacement.

No mention of the ST on the Japanese Honda website..

http://www.honda.co.jp/motor/

Sabie - what makes you think I can read Japanese ?   :CB--
But it is still on the U.K. website

Konichiwa Rendog San

It's still for sale on the US site as well.

What a stunning failure the VFR 1200 is.....remember when they retailed for 25 K!  With the demise of the ST1300 in Oz.....Honda doesn't seem to be too concerned about becoming a non event in the sport touring segment of the market.   :crazy

It would be nice to think that they've been working on an ST replacement that'll blow us all away but it looks like Honda's been too busy turning their Goldwings into cruiser hybrids and developing bikes like the CTX.  Maybe that's where they think the market is going for them?

Didn't Ford do a similar thing in the 80's with the V8's and left the V8 market and now are hard pressed to get the market share back from GMH?

It's a bit short sighted by Honda, to have a bike that is superior to its competitors in every sense and only needs some revision to update it and not so much remoldel it.

One day the 1100's will be unviable to keep repairing and then the 1300's as time marches on. So what do we ride in the future, I expect I still have another 20 to 25 years on a bike maybe even more god willing, as the previous owner of my bike was 80.

Bad Form Honda Australia... :well

Yep I remember Ford telling us that Australian's didn't want V8's anymore.
I'm guessing their market reserach was done on High St Prahran, as opposed to Main St Geelong.
Maybe same thing with Honda, their market reserach was done in Shangzon Bvd, Guangdong?
This is after all where the future of the mass produced market is.
BTW. I can't read the Chinese Honda site either  :||||

...what is there that needs to be routinely repaired :crazy. Have I missed something?

Of all the bikes I have and had, a bog standard and unaltered 1100 is by far the most reliable, maintenance easy and boring ride I have got. That's its attraction! :thumbsup

Cheers, the can:-)

The VFR800 is a beautiful bike but it's beginning to show its age.  It wasn't too long ago when Honda had some real breadth and depth in their sport touring range.  Variety such as the CBR1000XX, VTR1000, CB1300/S plus the VFR800 and ST1300.  The VFR1200 has been a sales disaster and I'm not interested in crossing the continent fully loaded, 2 up on a VFR800.

It appears the CBF1000 is being marketed as the main tourer for Asia.
But the Pan European is still on the Asian website.
Though the attraction to sheep is a bit weird  :rofl
The Blackbird was a stonker CBR1100XX but not many places one can ride at 200km/hr+
I don't want to spend $40G on a huge GL1800 - fullstop
And I agree touring two up on an 800 is just painful  >:()

I will be keeping mine in good condition for a few more years yet.
And when I get old and need to slow down I'll go buy a Harley  :p

My point was Can, that the ST's won't go forever in the numbers that are currently on the road. That one day they'll wear out.

Looking at the VFR 800 on the website suggests it only a single seater. Also rather more a sport bike than a tourer.

The URAL Importer lives in Kentucky (near Armidale) and is a real nice bloke and passionate about his bikes, but remember if you really want one that they are flat out at 110km/h down hill solo. They would no doubt do that for years without trouble, but 80km/h is about thier crusing speed. Good thing for transversing the 'steeps', but too slow for Aussie highways.
