Sabie is back in the land of the employed
« on: December 29, 2013, 11:44:55 PM »
If you try and tell me that Facebook is a waist of time, I'll currently defend it to the death or unit I get hurt.

An old firey mate of mine from over 10 yeas ago found me via Facebook. He now has his own Security and training Business servicing mines and industry in the Bowen basin.

His RTO is due for audit in 2014 and wants me to come on board and prepare his company for the RTO audit and then continue on to maintain the RTO compliance.

He's a days drive away in Central Queensland but..... I don't have to move, I can work from home and any assistance I can provide in moving his company into the north Qld mines area will also be part of my brief.

No recruitment, no tests no medicals no selection criteria...

So I drive down to have a face to face meeting with him on Thursday.

The funny thing is, he was a new trainer I had to put through cert IV years ago and then mentor him into being a trainer. He'd heard I may be available and track me down as he knew I was the right person to help him and his company.

Howzthat.

So , to all my OzSTOC mates, keep your fingers crossed that all works out well......

And if you set up your desk properly, you won't even have to get out of bed!

How good is that!?

Glad you've made a break through.  2014 is looking better already.

Hi Marcus

I was a Career Fire Officer, I was stood Down on the 18th of September 2012, and dismissed on the 17th of April 2013.

I had a horrible boss who used the Newman Government Staff Reductions to get rid of me after I had lodged a bullying complaint against him.

The new job is right in line with what I was doing as the training manager/coordinator in as far as and (looks Like) I'll be the RTO compliance manager for this company, with the first task of getting the companies training material ready for audit in July 2014. After that it again looks like I'll continue as the RTO compliance manager, assist and/or deliver on some Specialist training as well as developing leads for the company in new mining ventures and bidding on contracts for existing mines.

The company specialises in Security, drug an alcohol testing and fire and rescue training.

It's kinda left a bit of a bad taste about the fire service I'm afraid Gavo.  Although I'm still a Volunteer after much persuasion by the Local Volunteers.

The Area Admin found my National Medal and Service Medal locked in the managers safe, she told the Volunteer Captain of the brigade I joined, he went in and demanded my medals and was told no, the manager believed I didn't deserve them. After some threats about writing to the GG as to why theses medals hadn't been awarded and why they've been locked in a safe for 2 years, the manager reluctantly released them on the proviso that they weren't awarded at any function and that I wasn't to ever wear them. Yep, sure.

The brigade presented them to me at the Christmas doo earlier this month with a standing ovation from the vollies. Very, very humbling and wasn't able to hold my tears back.

So, yep, kinda done with fire services, so no red ST  :rd13 I'll stick with my blue baby  :blu13

Agreed!    The National Medal is awarded by the Governor General for Long and Diligent Service, in protecting life and property at some risk to yourself.   Someone has completed the nomination and reference documents to confirm that your service has met the criteria, as the awards are not sent out automatically.  I know, as I have been part of the process and completed such documentation for others.   Nobody had the right to withhold them from you once they had been awarded by the Governor General.   There would be a similar process for the Fire Service Award.

You have my heartfelt congratulations for the awards, recognizing the great service you have given to the community.    :clap :clap :clap
