Custom Rear Pod
« on: February 11, 2014, 12:51:32 PM »
Purchased my ST1100P with the single seat and rear pod. Really like the rear pod concept (except for the size and access) and the single seat rego.
Then my wife decided she would come out on runs, so I ditched the pod, the single seat and changed the rego. Also bought the rear pegs and a new corbin split seat. All up cost about $1,500. Then fitted a topbox to store my helmet whilst at work.
Wife now states, "changed my mind, don't want to get on the bike".

So this is were I am. The topbox bounces a lot (I would rather not have it if I can) - not really interested in attempting to resolve the bouncing. What I would prefer is a new custom pod that would be large enough to hold a single helmet. I looked at the space available and believe it is do-a-bul and I would give it a go if I had ever used fibreglass in the past and was even half good at it - I haven't.

Therefore I am seeking recommendations for a manufacturer specialising in fibreglass construction in Brisbane (preferrable south) who would like to see what they can come up with without breaking the bank.

Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
A.

Totgas,
Many years ago I made dashboard pod for 1100GKE.

I went to a surfboard shop and got the off cuts for free, glued them together and shaped it to what I wanted, less the thickness of fibreglass, so the finished product would fit the dash and the screen.

Took it back to the surfboard shop and they fibreglassed it for me.

Made the hole for the radio, and through that hole I broke up and removed the foam.

Can of spray paint and done.

This may be an option  :think1  that way you get what you want/need.

At my age " getting lucky" is remembering what I came in the room for ;)
