Having been working quite a bit lately & with stocktake I'd just done 13 days without a break, the missus said hey you Grumpy B**** I think you need to go for a ride on the bike.
Not being one to be told twice, after talking to Malcolm we decided to go for a ride the following weekend.
I fuelled up at 5.45 then rode down to the Narrogin Inne to wait for Malcolm, by 6.30 we started heading south it' was bloody cold & then started raining so we stopped while I put my wets over my leathers & of course it never rained again the whole trip.
About 9ish we rolled into Kojonup & stopped at the bakery for a bit of breaky we timed it perfect as the shop was empty, funny tho apparently the word got out quickly that 2 handsome bikers were in town & the next thing ya know the shop was full.
After a coffee at the bakery we turned left out of town we rode on thru Tambellup
We then rode thru to Gnowangerup where we swapped our clear visors for tinted ones & checked out the info board
There were photo op's at Jerramungup & Ongerup before we continued onto our next stop at Ravensthorpe which for was fuel & a bite to eat
We continued on to Esperance where we Fuelled up again we had a chat to a couple of coppers who were filling up one said to me where you going? you look rugged up for the snow I said well it was bloody cold at 6.00am he said where have you come from?
I said Perth, then where you going now?
I replied Perth He said what? you going straight back to Perth now?
I said no going to Coolgardie first
I saw him shaking his head as he got into his car & drove away, so after Esperance we went to Norseman where we had another coffee a meal & changed back to clear visors we also put on reflective vests I'm not a big fan of these but a guy at FarRiders was telling me once that he always wore one at night in case he came off, if the bike was going one way & he the other that traffic following hopefully would see him & avoid him rather than the bike with lights on in the middle of the road, good advice!
As we left Norseman it was getting dark, I could not get over how dark it was this is the only time I thought I've had enough & wanted to pack it in my speeds were varying Malcolm pulled along side & signalled me to pull over he asked if I was ok?
I said yes so he took the lead for the rest of the ride, it was not long after that the moon had risen quite high in the sky & as it was nearly full it was quite bright I felt so much better I could see so clearly then & had a second wind we kept going where we stopped at Southern Cross had another coffee then on to home it was 2c riding thru the Perth hills
Funny thing, 2 ST's that look nothing like cop bikes had all the night time traffic slowing down & no one would pass must have been those vests
I arrived home at 1.00am the missus was up & had a hot meal in the M/wave & a beer in my hand as soon as I got there
All in all the ST made it easy plus heated grips Sargent seat & MC Cruise plus the fact that WA is so easy for this kind of thing as it was basically 110kph all the way we really did not exceed the speed limit at all 'cept for passing a few trucks as we wanted to prove to ourselves we could do it
We had a great time I covered 1697kms spent $140 in fuel how could you beat that!
Can't wait for the next one
