Ever seen your trailer being towed? Watch this...
« on: June 02, 2015, 09:22:22 AM »
I turned the Contour Roam cam around on the rear mount of my ST13 to see how the trailer behaved whilst being towed along a very average road surface.

Turns out the footage has captured some fantastic scenery along the picturesque Lions Road which crosses the NSW Qld State Border just up from the township of Cougal.

The trailer behaved well under trying conditions (600kms total towing distance) and quickly jumped back in line when upset by road topography.

I have put a couple of neat soundtracks and some captioning in the vid - enjoy the backdrop. Thanks to Gadget, PC and Tding for making this return trip home a real bonza one!    :thumb    Watch in high def.

looks sweet and seems to track nicely except for when the BIG bumps give it a bit of a wobble.

What tow ball weight do you have on it and what pressure do you run the tires at?

Very impressed Diesel.  The suspension seems perfect and it tracks well.  I have not really thought much about a trailer before, but its its starting to make inroads in my thinking.  Thanks very much.

I have a cam mount on the rear of the bike for the times that the view from the rear is better than the front but I've only done a short test run without the trailer.

Thanks guys - I'll try for 10-15kg ball weight, and tyres will depend on load as follows:

Empty: 10lbs
Half Loaded: 15lbs
Fully Loaded: 20lbs

But I have leaf suspension on this - so unsprung trailers may vary. I am also new to this so will be experimenting to find the sweetest combo. I checked the tyre temps on the trailer a few times and they seemed happy with the above pressures.

Diesel great vid review, the trailer sits well and don't bounce around.. whats the length from ball to rear.
its a great set up they way its done, esp the POWER Box,
:think1 Given me something to think about when I change my trailer to suit its purpose better.

Looks like a great rig.  Got all the necessaries except an innerspring mattress.
A motel room has all that stuff, but no firelighters.  But it does have the big mattress and the kitchen sink.     :grin

All good points Biggles. Trouble is - there are no motels in places like this....

 :rofl

@ JYT - The total length x width is 2050mm x 950mm. As for tow ball to axle - I will measure the distance tonight ol mate.     :thumb
