Title: Website is back up....
Post by: Diesel on March 05, 2014, 02:48:03 PM
Well girls and boys,
our apologies for the outage, we had some technical difficulties due to some unkind people hijacking things, and our provider suspending our website, a massive thank you to Alchemist for his help to get things back up and running.

we have some functions still disabled, no one new can register for the moment, and also you will not get email notifications until we check over a few more things.

but the forum is here and it is working!

Looks like my first response was lost in the wreckage.
Its return was just in the nicotine because I was suffering deep posting withdrawal symptoms.
Despite it's being glacially slow here now, at least it's working.  Well done tech-heads!   :clap

All I can say about today situation is that I was sitting there at one point completly lost and not knowing how we where going to fix this one, facing the fact the website was going to be down for days and we where going to get a bill I didn't know how the club was going to cover it, and swearing over and over as it was the best thing I could think of to do.

To about to go to bed being amazed and immensely proud of the great club and the wonderful unsung members here who always seem to step up and be counted when it matters.

Thank you everyone, as always it is an honour to be part of OzSTOC.

The knowledge base within the club is enormous, there always seems to be some one whose job it is to do what ever needs doing and will do it for the members for free...

Many thanks alchemist for all your effort and time.

Perhaps we (you, as I have no idea) make an ozstoc trojan thingy and send it back to them.

 :thumbs :thumbs :thumbs

And, of course use Diesel's log in and details  :rofl  :well

Glad to have helped.

Abe; sounds good to me.  I'm one for blocking them all together, just need to catch them in the act first, although this one is proving to be difficult  :law

We now also have email notifications working again  8)

That is what we tried to do previously, I have set up blocks of IP ranges to try and stop these guys, but it doesnt work if they bypass the the sign up system. A quick google of tapatalk shows a history of problems, with security holes

Tapatalk isn't all that bad but it all comes down to the forum platform it ties in with whether those security holes are exposed or not.  With any luck we'll have Tapatalk back up and running by next week with a few security tweaks to help prevent any further issues like what we've just experienced.
