Tell your OzSToc friends what other motorised toys you are into here ??

Other motorbikes, small engines, Hot rods, 4WD's, Sports cars, planes, trains, RC etc.

ST2UP keeps telling me "He who dies with the most toys wins", so are you in the running for first place ??

Ok, I'll have a go at this with my little collection..

1970 MGB mark II out of the USA. Purchased in December 1997 out of the shipping container. A guy had purchased 3 MGB's out of the US, a Blue 1969, a Green 1967 and the Red 1970. He was selling the green and the red to put towards restoring his Blue.

We purchased the 1970 red as it had the least amount of rust in it and also it had been a California car. So no salt.

Restoration took around 4 months and it was ready in March of 1998. However the reality is that it really has only been reliable since Round 2008. So it's taken around 10 years. To sort a lot of bugs out of it.

Most of the faults have been electrical as its running the original Lucas system and you know what they say about Lucas...  Lucas, Lord of Darkness.. And that's true.

So up here in Townsville the old girl had died on my just once to often, the alternator bracket had failed (cracked) so I called a mobile Auto Electrician (just randomly out of the phone book) he came out replaced the alternator and while he was working I told him the story of how she keeps breaking down. He said he had just required one for a mate and was happy to take a look.

After about 5 minutes he had found that the main earth wire which is under the vehicle was loose, he soldered the wire to the body and the MG hasn't missed a beat since.

I'm in the Marque Club in Townsville which started out as an MG club but is now open to all "unique" cars.

I'll post some photos of the MGB's construction.

This was Heather's pride and joy until her accident  Sept 2012.  I've inherited now so next year I'll start to repair it and get it ready as a trade in towards our next bike.
