I've stripped off the bodywork before my 1300 goes in for a major service this week. It's pretty grubby under there with built up road grime and so on. Other than inviting Brian over for the weekend, has found a simple way to clean the built up and baked on crud under the fairings.

She cleaned up nicely using "Chemtech CT18 Superwash". I diluted it around 10:1, sprayed it on, let it sit for a while and hosed it off. Most of the road grime on the engine and brake dust on the rims came straight off, while some of the toughest bits needed a light brush and then came off easily with a second rinse.
Chemtech CT18 Superwash is available from Repco.

Williamson, what are you doing with the bouncing lady from the UK Suzuki 800 forum in your avatar? Couldn't you find a bouncing Honda lady?

StinkyPete you have suffered the pain that I'm about to go through. The bike got very dirty on the Perth trip and now needs to be stripped down to be washed as you did. I have brought the CT18 Superwash after a mate of mine spoke very highly of its cleaning properties. 1 Ltr was $14.00 from repco.

Hi Pete
CT 18 is great used it for years. Started life as truck wash. Used to spray it on leave it on over night and wash it off. Does cause some rusting n non alloy parts.
Another great product if you have a lot of tar on your exhaust and drive shaft is Turtle Wax Bug and Tar remover. Let is soak in and the stuff wipes away withou scratching the exhaust.
