Title: The Scooter Has Gone
Post by: StinkyPete on July 15, 2016, 04:16:19 PM
After eleven years of service and 35,000km (you read it correctly) my wife's little 50cc scooter has been retired.   It's generally been very reliable, but was starting to show it's age, and the cold winter weather that we've been having was the straw that broke the camel's back. The scooter riders in Vietnam would have been impressed with the amount of stuff that she's regularly carted around on it.   The Green Hornet, known by everyone in our suburb, has gone for parts, and we've replaced it with a 2009 Hyundai Getz.    Chris get's her wish of being warm and dry for going to and from work, and I go from driving a "Beer Man's" ute to an upholstered  shopping trolly.

Here it is on it's last journey to the wrecker.

Hey Pete !   Are you saying we over load our bikes in Viet Nam  ???     We don't - honestly !

Where did you find the photo of my wife bringing home the shopping??   :crackup

The dearly beloved would regularly load up the scooter with 20kg bags of flour or chook food, as well as a couple of bags of groceries hanging somewhere, and a top box full to the brim.   She even had a bag of groceries fall off up on the main road somewhere and didn't realize it was gone, but someone who recognized the bike picked them up and delivered them home.   :fp

The things you learn.....all this time chris has been more biker than most of us ST riders  :o
How many of us can say we regularly overload our bikes to the hilt ?
Sounds like the green hornet was great value for money !
