This seems to be a popular thread on various forums - including here...
Show us the bit where you escape to do your projects...
Here's mine.

Yes - two cars get parked at the roller door end;
Yes - the pool table comes out for parties;
Yes - that is the Stig
My bike is normally parked just in front of the work bench. Still some crap to get rid of too :fp
Plenty of room for workshop days. I've got speakers there for my iPod and a fridge is going in soon - now - jut to get the old aerial up and the flat screen in... :headbang
-
And the calendar by the Triump sign is?? Looks like I will have to phot mine while the cars are out, just to be even. I should have three white STs in mine, all going well this afternoon.

Hmmmm......that shed looks very different from last time I was in it ?? True there aren't any bottles scattered about the floor but there is just something different :think1 :think1
Back right had corner wall/bench comes to mind :think1 Sicman will be along shortly may be he will recall..... :whistle
:Blow
-
Should that be under the "my long-distance rider apparel" thread Paul? :rofl :-++
Cheers, Diesel
-
I'd have to spend days cleaning mine up for the photo-shoot. It's one of those "everything is where it was last used, and nothing is thrown away" sort of philosophies that shape it.

It appears that the young man has moved the calender of his wife to the centre of the wall away from the bin, seat and box of tissues to avert any suspicions that may be aroused by prying eyes :grin Wise move young man :-++ Wise move :clap :grin

Here's mine. Once upon a time the car would live in the shed as well as my stuff, but that was long ago.
-
Very Nice Pete :clap
-
WOW nice Pete... and here I was puffing out my chest at the work bench I built
-
Here's mine. Once upon a time the car would live in the shed as well as my stuff, but that was long ago.
Some seriously drool-worthy gear there, Pete!
I hope you get plenty of quality time with all those heavy duty toys.
-
The 1/2 inch steel plate "No Dumping" bench cost me a carton of beer, and its worth it's weight in gold as a laying out and welding bench. The lathe was my late father-in-law's, and he was an old school and very very skilled tool and die maker. I'm self taught on the lathe, but it's really handy. I made the forge, and my massive anvil was a wreck when I got it and cost just $100. I've fixed up the edges, rebuilt the horn and reground the top plate to make it flat again. I do get to spend a fair bit of time in my Man Cave, and don't know how any bloke could survive without a decent shed.
-
I have my man cave spread out in a few areas.
The BBQ area in between the carport and garage. Handy for all sorts of activities in between doing bloke stuff
(http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r92/saaz58/2013%20workshop/DSCF2686.jpg) (http://s142.photobucket.com/user/saaz58/media/2013%20workshop/DSCF2686.jpg.html)
And off to the right of the BBQ is one of my workbenches, at the back of the garage under the cover of the pergola
(http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r92/saaz58/2013%20workshop/DSCF2687.jpg) (http://s142.photobucket.com/user/saaz58/media/2013%20workshop/DSCF2687.jpg.html)
Excuse the junk, but this is my heavy duty workbench at the end of the carport. I bought it in Canberra for $100. It was made in a foundry in Castelmaine. Each leg alone is hard to lift by one person, and the top could be belted by a sledge hammer all day. I can barely drag the bench by myself, so it stays put.
(http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r92/saaz58/2013%20workshop/DSCF2688.jpg) (http://s142.photobucket.com/user/saaz58/media/2013%20workshop/DSCF2688.jpg.html)
Excuse more junk! This is where the bikes live (the Suzuki is on the left up the front) The metal shelves are new so I haven't quite organised things properly, but a lot of gear will go in storage boxes with lids. The brushcutter is sitting on the tyre changer, which can be pivoted out of the way.
(http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r92/saaz58/2013%20workshop/DSCF2689.jpg) (http://s142.photobucket.com/user/saaz58/media/2013%20workshop/DSCF2689.jpg.html)
The main workshop in the garage.
(http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r92/saaz58/2013%20workshop/DSCF2690.jpg) (http://s142.photobucket.com/user/saaz58/media/2013%20workshop/DSCF2690.jpg.html)
And off to right is where many of the tools live. I did not take a picture, but on one of the walls I have brackets where a few sets of tyres usually hang awaiting use by me or a few others with STs.
(http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r92/saaz58/2013%20workshop/DSCF2691.jpg) (http://s142.photobucket.com/user/saaz58/media/2013%20workshop/DSCF2691.jpg.html)

Hi Saaz, I bet you know where every item lives, despite the apparent disorganization. :grin
My Father-in-Law had a massive shed, stocked full of stuff, material and tools ......and about 1sq foot of free bench to work on. Mother-in-Law always said that he knew where everything was, but he freely admitted to me once that he didn't have a clue where most of his stuff was.
:crackup :crackup
-
I am halfway through a complete reorganisation, that is my excuse :p I think I need another tool board somewhere.... :Whipped
-
You're kidding yourself Saaz. Canberra is way too cold to have a BBQ
-
You just need another shed to start all over again and get more stuff to put in it.
-
STroppy has the solution. Get a shipping container delivered then fill it up. Then fill up the shed with more stuff.
-
You're kidding yourself Saaz. Canberra is way too cold to have a BBQ
The BBQ is just to take the chill off the shed.

My man cave originally consisted of just the garage in the back yard at the end of a single width almost three car long, drive through carport. The carport under the main roof than became home for the bikes and a four poster car hoist. The hoist was installed as a quick fix to storage problems. With the bikes often parked in they have not been riden as much as they should. To over come this problem the a two year project to to redevelop the front yard is now functional but still requires a little more work. The garage has now been renamed as the Inner Man Cave, the drive through carport as the Outer Man Cave and the new front driveway as the Man Cave Entrance.
Original Man Cave Entrance

Outer Man Cave
(http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l535/West_Aussie_Glen/Willetton/DSC05657.jpg) (http://s1122.photobucket.com/user/West_Aussie_Glen/media/Willetton/DSC05657.jpg.html)
Inner Man Cave
(http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l535/West_Aussie_Glen/Willetton/DSC05660.jpg) (http://s1122.photobucket.com/user/West_Aussie_Glen/media/Willetton/DSC05660.jpg.html)
Now the Man Cave Entrance is almost complete a lot of work is on the cards to get both the Outer and Inner Man Caves sorted.
-
Great ideas there. I plan to extend the carport out the back and integrate in with a revised BBQ area with an enclosed pergola of some sort.
-
When you said car hoist, I scoffed... I then saw the photo.
:eek
-
Some serious one-upmanship going on here.
There can be no catching up with West Aussie Glen.
Not only does he have multiple caves, but they're full of classy stalactites and stalagmites. :-++

I was going to post a couple of pics a while ago but lost track of this thread and couldn't find it through the main menu so, I just waited until someone else posted to bring it back onto my "unread posts since last visit" list.
Here is a couple of pics of my Man Cave at our number 2 home on the NSW mid north coast (Wootton if you are interested). Our number 1 home is an apartment in Sydney which is where the ST lives in case you are wondering where she is.
The tractor and ride-on are in the background behind Dad's old boat (50's vintage) that I restored as a project a while ago. The various bikes are for the kids (both big and little) to hoon around the paddocks ranging from the PeeWee 50 up to my beloved KL250 which was my first bike. I can lose myself in here all day and wonder where the time has gone at the end of the day. Certainly one of my favourite places.

And the business end of the shed!

Yes Marcus, having two homes you can't be too careful when we are away.

Looks like you've had a bit of a spring clean............love it, wish I had one, even though I don't really need one. :grin

Couch wish you were right but that photo was taken in 2005. Spring clean to occur soon, like before christmas, just not sure which christmas. The hoist was primarily installed as a quick fix for my then parking problems.

From what has gone before my Man Cave is pretty plain, but it still does the job!
Bikes fit in one side, and anything i happen to be working on goes on the other, there will soon be a Motorcycle trailer in there hopefully :thumb

Streak, a man cave has 3 basic principles that need to be followed for your structure to be classed as a Man Cave.
1. A floor
2. A Roof
3. Walls (Number of optional) to keep the floor and roof apart.
To these 3 basic principles you can add, but never take away....

But Streak's appears to be lacking in the all important amount of JUNK

That looks pretty good to me, Streak! A good clean work area with room to move.. and a good organised brain to keep the workshop organised and tidy.. main reason why I haven't added a photo of my workshop here!:D

:dred11 Biggles it was an all nighter then most of Friday,,, got the job done and did a FarRide on Sat... all well on my ST...

Well, I had a bit of a tidy up recently so thought I might shoot a couple of pics before it gets messed up again I never let it get too untidy though because I like to know where things are when I need them......I can't help it, it's not my fault, I'm a Virgo!! It's my mothers fault!! :grin
The carpet was there when I brought the place 6 years ago and I'm not sure why I kept it as it serves no useful purpose....probably because I couldn't be bothered rolling it up and taking it to the dump. :p
And if anyone's wondering.........NO! I don't tow the trailer behind the bike, it's bigger than it looks, it's an 8 x 5 steel trailer that I brought down from Qld when we moved here, I don't use it all that often now, but I do store a few things in it. We also have a large enclosed double carport so we don't need to use the cave for the cars. The only time the cars go in is when I'm servicing them. The wardrobe at the back is where I keep my motorcycle gear, jackets, boots, helmets, etc.........keeps them away from those nasty white tail and black spiders that we get down here! :eek

What's under the rear wheel of the bike?
-
That would be a piece of...... whatever you want ???......to make it just a little easier to put the bike on the centre stand like a bread board ??
:beer
-
Brilliant answer!! :grin
Marcus, if you've never tried it then next time you want to put your bike on the centre stand run the rear wheel up on a board, 10-15mm thick, and see just how much easier it is to lift on to the centre stand. I usually take it away after I've placed it on the stand......but I left it there this time to confuse you!!! :rofl

Hi Couch, Mate you have solved a big hassle for me Re: the board under the rear tyre. At 66 yrs young I was fining it very hard to get the ST on the centre stand but not any more, your blood is worth bottling. Cheers Candywine. :hatwave
-
Good stuff.........It sure makes a difference mate, takes all the weight out of the bike!! :thumbs
Now all you need is a white bike. :rofl

Couch the colour of my ST is candywine, if I swaped it for a white one as your's is I would have to change my call sign to WHITEY & that may not go down to well with some folk. Cheers Mate. :think1

"WHITEWINE" sort of rolls of the tongue reasonably well though!! :grin

It's 24 mm high at the top of the ramp, and 300 x 170 overall.
Any higher and you can't get it out from under the back wheel.
-
Hi Biggles thanks for the photo of your ramp for the back wheel SPOT ON, Cheers Candywine. you have been :think1
-
Somewhat higher than mine Biggles, and very much fancier as well, I should add!! :thumb
-
I have a new Man Cave now, still organizing it, but it is a big improvement on my last one, plenty of space to pull bikes apart here (I know it needs a good sweep out)

I've not followed this thread but what a simple yet affective idea from Couch and Biggles. The other astonishing thing is, Biggles garage appears to be tiled. VEEERY nice indeed.

If only! That's the laundry floor- where I take all my photos because it offers a descent canvas.
Garage floor! Don't even go there...

I should take a picture of one of my areas as there is no car or bike in the double garage - it is empty! First time for a long time.Still two unregistered bikes in the carport, but it has space as well.
-
Well the Man Cave is really taking shape now, had a big sort out and change around today, am feeling rather content with the cave :beer

Oh WOW! What you can do with unlimited money!! That is astonishing.
Or you can do what a much wealthier guy is doing, and set up world-wide humanitarian schemes (Bill Gates Foundation).
That's not to say the garage owner doesn't do worthy stuff as well, just before I get jumped on... :grin

I dunno if I would have the patience to wait that long for the lift to come up, especially if I'm just going to the store for some milk

These days I look at it this way Bill, it probably paid the school fees for the children of a lot of construction workers.
