Thanks for letting us know Phil, that will certainly change things.

Thanks Lee

Even I was thinking of giving this one a miss due to front tyre which I can't order until the 19th of this month. Tyre is almost down to the wear indicator but would I get another 500kms? So I'll leave it open at the moment.

Phil had a ride plan for the day and with him not coming and my own tyre issues that might not happen but I just had a look at the cafe location and it's 56 George St. Moonta. http://goo.gl/maps/L90yN. (http://goo.gl/maps/L90yN.)

Rather than a 9am meeting maybe change the time to midday.

The other option is to cancel this weekend and I'll put up an RTE for Gilbert Valley Hotel, 35 Burra Road, Saddleworth SA (we did last year) for either the last weekend of June or first weekend of July. http://goo.gl/maps/CdH9f (http://goo.gl/maps/CdH9f)

Any other suggestions welcome

Alan

We have booked our accommodation for the night of Friday 14th June, and will be available for a ride on Saturday 15th June around the district.

If anyone wants to meet at 9am at Henry on George café as per the original arrangements, we would love to go for a ride with you.

I think I'll have to pull out of the York Peninsula ride, due to numbers on leave at work I'll be required on the weekend, I get weekend penalties though so not all bad.

We're still undecided as to attend or not. Going to Port Pirie on Friday for a 2:30 appointment. If it's raining it'll be a car trip over.

Well, we changed the appointment time from Friday till July sometime.

So, we're still on for Sat morning at the cafe. However, we won't be doing the ride around. The 400 km return trip for us will be the last ride for the current front tyre.

I will be there Sat morning at 9am at Henry on George café.  I will be solo as, unfortunately, Cherrie can't make it this time.

Cheers,

Hope all goes well with the grandchild, StinkyPete.

Our first was born last November.  He's brought us lots of joy, and we can hand him back to his parents when he gets cranky :thumbs

We've been looking forward to this week-end for quite a few weeks though at times we were close to cancelling mainly due my front tyre, and the possibility of rain. Not to mention the cold as we live a few k's from Yongala which is usually the coldest place in SA.

Rather than ride over Friday we braved the crisp cold morning air and left home about 6:40 am this morning. Who in there right mind gets up at 5:30 am anyway? My usual bedtime is 2:00 am so I had an early morning and was in bed at witching hour (midnight) and Heather was in bed at  the ungodly hour of 9:30 pm.

All I needed to do before we left was wipe the bike down, (lucky we had a frost free night) set the GPS up and put a few needed items in the top case. I thought about the seat cover but left it off as we weren't sure if it would rain or not. To reduce the wind chill factor we usually put our wet weather pants on when we need to leave this early in winter.

Both Google http://goo.gl/maps/sBWbY (http://goo.gl/maps/sBWbY)  and my GPS suggested about 3 hours for the 196 k ride over. We took 2.3 hours arriving at 9:00 am. Marty (TouriSTs) must have just got off of his 1300 as we pulled up. Talk about timing, couldn't have done that if we tried.

We spent an hour and half in the café, (getting warm) before we parted ways with Marty. Rather than risk the extra k's we headed back towards home while Marty headed south. I took this photo of Marty and Heather standing next to the bikes. Sorry, no Ozstoc shirts as it was to cold for them.

Before leaving we had a walk down the main street and took this of the from across the road.

Heading back home we took the indirect route via Wallaroo http://goo.gl/maps/2xqfW (http://goo.gl/maps/2xqfW) and over to Kadina where we added $20 of fuel, called into Woolworths and found something to eat from this café.

We ate lunch in Victoria Park and while there I took a couple shots.

This has seen better days.

Looks like a great ride, my parents live in Moonta Bay, I was born in Port Pirie, sister still lives there, also spent a lot of time in Crystal Brook as a youngster.

I look forward to your posts Alan as it is all familiar territory for me.

Pete, only what I've posted.

Not sure if Marty (TouriSTs) will put anything up. He did ride south towards Maitland before heading for home.

I decided to ride up on Friday afternoon and stayed the night in Wallaroo.  Rode up from Adelaide and directly into the setting sun for the last hour or so, which was painful.  A nice spot with a long jetty (see pic).

Did the short ride down to Moonta on Saturday morning and met up with Alan and Heather (see pic), who had made a really early, cold start from home - very impressive!  Spent an hour or so thawing out and chewing the fat before I headed south to Maitland, with Alan and Heather heading north.  The weather starting setting in so I got into the wet-weather gear before setting off for Ardrossan.  Just in time, fortunately, as it started to rain as I was coming in to Ardrossan but happy to say the gear and the fairing kept me pretty comfortable all the way back to Adelaide.

A nice short ride for my first OzSTOC outing - looking forward to Saddleworth on Sunday and many more.  Thanks very much to Alan and Heather for making the effort to get there (postponed appointment and also struggled on last legs of front tyre) and for being such good company.

Cheers,

Marty
