Hi chaps
Ive got my 1100 pulled apart to replace the water pump. I have removed timing belt/idler pulleys etc and have freed up the pump assembly. The assembly moves quite freely, but there dosnt appear to be enough clearance between the pump and the frame cross member to let it pass.
Any one done one of these before?, any ideas?

I haven't needed to do this yet and looking in the manual doesn't give me a clue either. I'd hazard a guess and say remove the cross member if you need to.

When Pezzz did his clutch and timing belt we removed the crossmember or bar that is in front. Made working on the front very easy. A little bit extra work but worthwhile

I've done this on mine, you need to remove the frame section that goes across the front and down the side. Have fun it takes a bit of work.

Thanks fellas, i thought I may have to remove the subframe. No matter how much I jiggled and moved the water pump, there dosnt seem to be any other way of getting it out. Back to the shed......

Just a question.. How much did you pay for a new pump and how hard was it to get? I had to get one from the US because Honda Oz couldn't supply and didn't know when they would have one.

Craig, I havnt got a new pump yet. I wanted to make sure it was the pump making all the noise before i ordered one. Partzilla have them (two types, 3 different part numbers) for about $300.

so how did you go, do you think the water pump was making the noise? gravelly bearing.
was the impeller all there? how many k,s have you done pls just curious

Yes,definately the water pump. The bearing is completely flogged out and has more lateral play than ive ever seen in a bearing. The impeller blades are fine, and show no signs of wear. The timing belt idler pully has a small amount of wear, so i will replace it to. The bike has done about 240,000ks, so i figure some wear is to be expected....Its all going to have to wait a while though, christmas is sucking the money out faster than I can make it!!!
