Recently I purchased a new screen for the ST13 and rather than pay for a genuine Honda screen went to Handcraft Fibreglass of Seven Hills (Sydney) http://www.handcraftfibreglass.com.au (http://www.handcraftfibreglass.com.au) and got one for $190.00.
Same thickness as the original, and no sign of it moving around fully extended
I had the option of standard height, 50 mm higher or 100 mm higher and if it didn't suit, they'd cut it down for me. I opted for the highest. (Easier to cut down than add more on :grin)
Since I've had it on, I've found the extra height to be a boon. No pressure behind the head and exceptionally easy to look through while riding (I'd always found it difficult looking through the screen on corners).
Even though it's higher, I can still get good air on hot days with it down.

Ordinary perspex will easily scratch and craze. Motorcycle screens have a hardness treatment which resists that.
Folk who have tried polishing out scratches have succeeded in removing the layer and the area soon goes bad.
I thought from your description your supplier might have simply fashioned a screen out of perspex.
However, being in the trade, they would be well aware of what's required.

I called into Slipscreens to verify what you asked and was told all screens are made from polycarbonate. He showed me the raw material before it's heated and injected into the moulds.
The amusing side of it all is his Dad is retired but keeps coming in to the shop as he has done for years, so the young bloke gave him a boat to repair.
He says it gives Dad something to do and keeps him out of his "hair"(he's clean shaven) while he gets on with the business LOL.
I should explain Slipscreens" is the name of the screen side of the business, and won't show up as such via Google

Good job there Peter. Always good to have someone to speak to and go and see for such things. Have to keep them in mind in case I want a custom screen.
