So after what I guess was around 15000km, i really needed a new set of tyres before the Kookynie FarRide later this month.
Rang around a few places and looked online until Yorkie suggested to me to give Steve's Motorcycles in Midland a call.
Steve there was talking to Yorkie about some tyres that he had very good life from on a HD.
So I gave him a call and booked in for Michellin Commander II on the rear and Michellin Pilot Road 4 on the front.
All up cost was $500 exactly including lubricating splines with my own supplied moly and having to work around towbar etc.
Very happy with the service and knowledge.
Here are a couple of photos of the inside of the old tyre showing how the RideOn product looks after a few thousand kms.

I forgot to get photo of outside of tyre but was very flat in the middle..... :fp
Anyway, thought I would share.

Looks like I would have expected. Some HD models do come with a 160/70 rear tyre (as does the BMW 1200LT) so there are some options. It will be interesting to see how the Commander goes life wise

They got 34000 km on the HD and expect around 20000 km minimum on the ST. Here's hoping.

So far very hapy with wear .... over 2000km and no noticeable wear but may be a bit slippery. Have had 2 incidents losing traction but that could be coincidence on bad roads with oil. 1 was shiny right hand tyre track on a bend out on highway .... while bike slipped a bit until I stood it back up and got out of the shiny then all ok. The other time was on Sunday pulling out from a median strip that may have just been oily but took me 2 goes to stop spinning on takeoff.
