Yesterday I took my brother and his NZ wife for a drive around Brisbane.
We started out from Kallangur and drove down to the Gap to the Walkabout Creek Sancturary and Environmental Centre. A beautiful spot with a little Green Tree Frog Café in the tree tops. They also have two function rooms there as well. This was where my daughters wedding and reception was held in July 2014.
To my surprise there were signs saying that the beach was open for swimming. (Enoggerra Resevoir)
After poking around there, we drove towards Mt Glorious and were planning on heading to Boombana Café for lunch when my brother spotted a sign for wine tasting. I missed the driveway, so I did u-turn and we drove into the car park of Dr Red Cellar door.
http://www.drred.com.au/cellardoorThey have a small variety of Reds. Dr Red (Shiraz), Dr Red Liqueur (Shiraz) and Dr Purple (Shiraz with Purple Carrot). A very dry White (Sauvignon Blanc) which the sommelier described as the Simpson desert in a bottle, and a ginger liqueur. 6 bottles under $100. They also sell coffees and teas.

From there we continued on to Boombana Café for lunch. As we drove up the hill I saw a sign to Jollly's Lookout and hadn't speed there before so did a quick stop and look.

A short drive and we arrived at Boombana Café.
This time we went out the back and had a table on the verandah overlooking the sloping grounds below.
We had arrived after at 1:20 pm and despite the menu saying the breakfast menu ended at 12:30 pm, they said if we wanted anything from the breakfast menu that was possible.
We all ordered and everyone was happy with their choice. Dezohn had a pancake stack from the Breakfast menu, I had the Boombana Burger, Ross had Chicken Burger, and Rebecca had a salad.
While we ate we heard Whip birds, watched Butcher birds, and saw a sign warning of Kookaburras stealing burgers.
After thanking the staff for a wonderful lunch, we continued on towards Mt Glorious. A pleasant drive and at one stage I was caught up by a couple of bikes, so at the first opportunity I pulled over and was given an acknowledgment wave from both bikes.
At Mt Glorious (23 °C) we went into the parking area for a rest break and a short walk into the forest, where for the first time in my life, I heard a Cat-bird calling. At first I thought is was a small child in the distance until one called from overhead.
Back in the car, I gave them the option of the Dayboro Crown Hotel or the shortcut home. The Crown Hotel was the next.
After the drive down the mountain to Samford (28°C) we drove to Dayboro on some beautiful riding roads.
A quiet drink on the verandah at the Crown Hotel, watching the cars and bikes in the main street, with a cool breeze constantly blowing in our faces. After a pleasant rest, we made plans for dinner which meant a stop of at the local Supermarket and butchers for preparations for a BBQ on the back deck.
During the BBQ Rebecca and I consumed most of a bottle of Dr Purple.
Very nice!
