FI Code 26 update and question.
« on: May 18, 2018, 06:29:09 PM »
Hey all,

Finally found the time and tools to get the airbox out last weekend and found the 5 way connector was clogged (3 of the 5) so I cleared it out put it back together. Expecting no change I took it out for a ride and was pleasantly surprised to find the issue now a lot harder to replicate.

Before if I were to make any "sudden movements" while riding I would get the FI light, for example, speeding up more than gently or cutting the throttle at speed. I could get it to come on above 100 or as low as 30.

Now it's a lot harder to cause and I've only managed to get it to come on taking off from the side of the highway like a mad man and after dropping it a few gears to overtake.

My question to anyone reading is where do the pipes that come off the 5-way connector go? I didn't look at the other ends when I was in there. My thinking is if cleaning the 5-way had a noticeable impact there could be a possibility that the pipes are also clogged or their other ends are clogged...   :think1

Before I go ripping it apart again and trying to clean out lengths of pipe I figured I'd see if anyone could shed some light on what I'm in for.

Thanks  :grin

Dunno- it's dark down in there.     >:()

But seriously, have you tried putting a dose of Morey's Injector Cleaner through a tank of fuel?.  We all know the fuel doesn't go through those pipes, but the vapour does, and it seems to have been beneficial in the past.

Haha thanks!

I did try half a bottle when I first got the issue as the bottle said for 60L of fuel but I should probably try another round at double the dosage. Who stocks Morey's Injector Cleaner?

Had similar problem with blocked connector, still had rough idle after cleaning, but problem resolved after ECU reset👍. You may want to try this, can’t harm🤓http://ozstoc.com/index.php?topic=11334.0

Super Cheap Auto have it and it's reasonable at around $29 for a litre.

From memory one goes to the MAP Sensor and the other four go to the inlet throttle bodies to measure the vacuum or something like that. I pulled mine off one at a time and ran a pipe cleaner down  the end of each one with a bit of kero as a cleaning agent.

A couple were clogged at the 5-way end.

Then I blew through them to make sure they were clear.
