Just finished watching Air Crash Investigations on the idiot box and it got me thinking....
What if ALL vehicles had crash cams (Windscreen mounted fore and aft looking camera with sound) and Data Recorders (telemetry recorders for things like the vehicle's speed, braking forces and steering forces). Also, a second camera always filming the driver's demeanour, actions and reactions, and a breath alcohol analyser to allow the ignition to run the car.....
Imagine if there was no need for witness statements because every pertinent detail about a road accident/incident or road rage was data recorded and/or audio-visually filmed like in modern, sophisticated aircraft!
No more texting whilst driving, drinking a can or two, running red lights, speeding, cutting people off, tail-gating etc etc etc....
What do you see as the benefits or negatives of such a system?
Cheers, Diesel
