As many of you know, OzSTOC and its Members have always been extremely helpful and very generous in lending a hand, or chipping in where a need has arisen.
We have always supported great charity events such as the Black Dog Ride, the devastated township of Grantham, numerous Rides for a Cure, the Ride for Daniel etc etc.
Another opportunity has come our way to once again show our support for the RFDS and downed fellow motorcycling enthusiasts.
I have been speaking with Ken from M.A.R.I. whom sent me the following information on day rides to help out our brethren...
Here is a copy of his email:
Hello Dave & Graham: It was good to speak with You Dave again the other day. Regarding MARI its the "Motorcycle Accident Rehabilitation Initiative" it all started at St Vincent's Hospital in Sydney. MARI is all about Riders looking after Riders. On the 8th of March this year we will be rolling out the initiative across the country side. Going to as many Hospitals, Royal Flying Doctor Bases and Medical Centres as possible. Speaking with management, giving them information to read and then re-visiting them in person or by phone to get them on board with it.MARI Examples such as,Hospital and home visits,Organising for motor cycle transport,Contacting relatives or friends,Organising for you lawn to be mowed, bins to be put out,Animals to be fed, Medication to be picked up for you / and just being a decent human being. There is so many things one can do for another rider with a common bond motorcycling. The biggest thing is if you are away from home with no friends on hand MARI stands alone. We even have a Magasine delivery service from Road Rider Magasine to the Patient. On your way down to your agm you could call in if you could for a photo opp and we can post it as supporting MARI. You can also check out www.drwings.org.au or look atwww.motorcyclegear.com.au and check out Events section. By the way , anything purchased from this sight helps us to keep the MARI machine going on down the road.I have put the following link to more information for days and places to ride with the group, an entry form, and the Press Release.
