Got to smarten the ST1100 up
« on: January 29, 2015, 04:57:08 PM »
I'm of the view that bikes are for riding and not for cleaning.  However I will have to smarten up the ST1100 over the next month.

Looks as if I'll be going home to New Zealand around April, and I'll likely buy something different once I get home.

So I'll be tidying up the mirror covers, polishing all the paintwork (especially the right side pannier where my boot sometimes scrapes when getting on), clean up the wheels and check the brake pads and rotors, and get her serviced and checked against a RWC getting her ready for sale.

I've had fun on her, lovely bike for up here where distances between places are a little longer.  And a lovely bike to ride, responsive, loads of pull and great handling.

As I'll want a quick sale, I'll probably be asking $3500 for her, 2000 ST1100PY with just under 140,000 km on the clock.  We'll see.

It certainly helps with a quick sale if the belt has been changed (with receipts).
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

Bought a Gates T325 timing belt at the local bearing shop, it'll be going on at the 140,000 km service next week.

Thanks for the advice
