I'm not a red person in bikes, but that's sensational, and the dark screen does add to the effect ;)

It looks great Azi, and red is faster isnt it. Certainly I was only allowed to have a bike again if it wasn't red. Cheers

Hmm, I am intrigued by some of your comments about the tinted screen.  Are you saying that tinted screens weren't standard?

Here's the embossed code on the screen:

And while we're talking non-standard parts: here's the right hand switch block.  I assume someone stuck a police spec switch block on it at some point in time?

Welcome Azi . . I think you'll find the bike is an ex-police bike and has been resprayed red, still a great buy and a great bike.

Does it have ABS and is the speedo marked in individual kilometres rather than 5 & 10 k calibrations? Individual kilometre markings usually means expolice or NRMA bike.

The plot thickens.

Here is the speedo:

There is no ABS on the bike.

It would be cool if this turns out to be an ex-police bike.  That would mean it's got the mega alternator.  I haven't had the chance to strip the plastic off yet to look underneath.

Azi,

That is definitely a speedo of  a Police Bike. Does it have a headlight adjuster on the left hand side of dash?
The other obvious differences if it is an ex service bike will be a voltmeter in the dash instead of the headlight adjuster, the paint colour tag on the frame under the seat will be NH138  for Shasta white, and there will be a loom up under the rear cowl under the seat with 2 multipin connectors ( 6 pin and 9 pin from memory) and a heap of single wires with bullet connectors on them, and a thicker rear disc brake.

Enjoy the bike, they are fantastic.

Hope to catch up with you on an RTE when im back on a bike.

Another obvious for an ex service bike would be the switches on the left hand cowl beneath the pocket will be marked with a triangle for hazards and a "6". Looks like your headlight switch is broken ( or modified) on the right hand switch block. It should be marked with a filled in circle, a "2"and a "3". the 2 is a fixed position but the 3 is momentary.

Here is the headlight adjuster:

And here is a volt meter:

I couldn't find any paint codes under the seat.  The headlights are switched with the '. 7 8' slider, whilst the rest of the switches don't do anything.

Some one has done some mods to the bike, headlights should be hard wired on. Also if its ex police there should be a volt meter where the headlight adjuster is.

What's the best way of finding out which alternator is installed?  My understanding is that the civilian 1995 model had the 28A, whilst the police had the 40A.

Postscript:  looks like I've managed to establish the bike as a Police model by doing a VIN check.  According to cmsnl.com, it's a 1995 ST1100P.

Happy days
