Illumination !!!!
« on: March 18, 2015, 01:21:57 AM »
I stopped by Wombat's a couple of weeks ago with full panniers and an afternoon to spare.
Below is the outcome ... :-)

10W Floods as DRLs

30W Floods

80W Spots (with some cute little strobes underneath ... lol ....

So all up the front now looks like ....

and from the side ....

Usable Light out front and sides is fantastic. Even just using the DRLs helped pick up the reflective paint on street signs on low beam ....

Thanks Wombat .....   :hatwave :hatwave
I am trying to get video a friend took and put up on FB of the bike with strobes and then all lights going .... looks great ...  :grin

What holds the lights at the mirrors to the bike? See one small mounting, there must be another one. What is the technical details and the cost?

Hobs, Wombat had made up over and under mirror mounts like the police brackets just with additional under mirror section. We had to mount a stay from the side of light to the windshield screw to stop vibration. Main lights were from Jaycar and for all 4 was just over $700. DRLs were from Ebay via Wombat for about $35 pet set. Strobes were $10 for set of 4 with controller. I will find link to Jaycar and post as I emailed it to Wombat a while back. Bike will be in Toowoomba on Friday if you are there.

So what is the purpose of the strobes I.e extra indicators or just to be scene or something else? Are they legal in all states as I haven't seen them before?
Cheers

The little DRLs I have no idea on as Wombat got them.

Brock, the strobes as they are

What I have ordered though to share with Wombat ...

Although I did speak to the seller and ordered all 54 as clear rather than orange ...   :thumb

Originally was just for giggles ....  being clear they are OK...
Justification for them was looking to assist Bloodbikes, Brock, and now Wombat with marshaling for the bicycle riders at their events.

Pezzz,

You may have to fork out for another set of strobes, only orange can be used at the rear, besides they would show up better in the day light..  Its a huge expense to change them I know..

We may try and get a few bikes with different light setups together Friday night, just to show what can be done for what sort of $$$ I am sure great improvements can be had for not a lot

Sounds like a great plan.  We can burn scorch marks in the caravan park fence!     :thumbsup
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott
