I recently went through this with my mother in laws car, i spoke with the repair agent myself, you have to be lucky of course, he was able to fix and repair for less than replacement value, but he was going to write it offr before i spoke to him, but the car is a very sound car, that i dont have to pay much attention to, so i paid the excess. is the dealer doing the repairs?

Hi there Pault,

There is ST's out there with NO tupperware (excluding the headlight surround) I would hate to think about the replacement cost of that tupperware.

Have a look at this prices before you "jump"

my st has just passed the 200k mark. i can get another bike with just over the 100k with a payout and have change for tyres and rego.
in some ways a no brainer but i need to be sure about payout $ and still be able to insure the next bike. and that is what i am unsure about.
i have no trouble in changing timing belt etc so that is not a big cost

Insurance?......do you have rating protection?  Some bike policies don't......

Parts........you may not find Australian specific body parts in the US......Side cases prime example.......theirs have side reflector on lower rear of case.........ours don't. However David Silver Spares does.

US side case is discounted to about $US723 making it cheaper than local, about $1800 last time I looked.

English price for an Australian one is $334.........where would you go? The part number is for my 99 1100 in midi blue
