Great little camp stove adaptor...
« on: March 05, 2014, 03:20:19 PM »
Got this little adpator for a few bucks off fleabay that allows me to burn the regular butane tins ($1.65 each) instead of the specialist canisters ($6.75 each).

Works well - but I'll have to use a few tins to be in front!    :crackup

This is the other type of canister....

Downside is that it takes up a little more room.

Cheers, Diesel

saw one the other day very similar that runs on unleaded petrol.

Pour petrol into the cylinder at the bottom and pump it up like the old tilly lanterns.

Think they were a bit more than $16 though.

I use the screw-on butane bottles on my Jet-Boil, and they can be expensive, so I like the idea of an adapter to let me use the cheaper bottles.   The adapter can also be purchased from BCF or Harvey Norman.

I'm sure he could make a mistake ONCE in his life and accidently fill the tank with real petrol.

Sorry Diesel, I suppose I should get to know you a bit better before I take the p.....etrol out of you.

I have been using one of those gasmates for a few years. I bought it on clearance at Big W as prt of downsizing camping gear to fit everything in lockable bags. Very handy to be able to use 2 types of gas, especially the cheaper cannisters as I slso use them for a gas torch and table top burner. The screw on type is a bit stronger if you are stuck for space and not going to be using it much.
