WANTED - Front Guard '96 ABS
« on: June 10, 2014, 11:23:06 AM »
People are there any spare front guards off an ABS model sitting around out there that aren't required anymore.

I got my bike back from the Stealer last year after a major service and found two of the attachment points busted, but of course they didn't do it, because that would cost them money. :well  I have been trying to find a way to stop the rattling for the last couple of months, and secure it in place.

Went for a rid on the weekend and thought I had finally found success, but alas losing the front guard all together was not the way I wanted to do it.  Thankfully it was picked up by the new owner of Streak's 1100, but all points have been broken and plastic welding is not an option because of the movement of those points.  I have growled the net and haven't had any success, unless I want a non-ABS model.

My bike is wineberry in colour, but any colour will do and I will arrange painting later.  Just sick of tasting the water from the road flick up without a guard.  It's strange to see this plume of water rise ahead of you as you taste it and remember you have to guard and spit out the small rocks etc. :||||

Thanks in advance for the help.
Steve

I havent got a guard but when you put a new one back on try using tap rubber o rings on the two major step bolts. Mine has gone all quiet since I did mine. I was looking for fibre washers similar to what Hoffy was using but came across the o rings instead and I have used them in the past on shackles to stop the pin from jamming. Hope this helps  :grin

Thanks for the replies fellas, I was trying to put some dollars in the pocket of a member before a business, but if none around I will buy from one of the online stores.

Thanks for the Partzilla link Alan - thats a great price.  I hadn't looked too far into that avenue yet, but that is a good place to start from.

Wombat I had used this before, but as usual it's one of those things that I had on the list to do, just the ute is broken down and can't put the bike off the road to pull it down until that's done.  Got to do it now I suppose.
