Welcome kiwisteed from Brisbane  :hatwave

May I ask which part of paradise you're from?

I have  a brother who moved across the ditch and now lives in Waiuku.  Enjoyed our time there so much we even discussed moving there ourselves. (may be in retirement)

When I was visiting in February, motor homing for 11 days, I saw a lot of STs, but always when they were mobile so I didn't get to meet any of the riders or hand out any OzSTOC cards.

This time when we visited we went to Bay of Islands and The Coromandels and I soooo wanted to be on my (or any other) ST.  There are some fantastic touring roads over there.

Anyway, looking forward to seeing the transformation photos and perhaps catch up next time I pop over.
Cheers,
Gary

Hi Gary, I'm in Quake City, Christchurch on the Mainland lol. I havnt ridden in the North Island but have been to Auckland for Block Courses when I was an apprentice, and the scenery was amazing so the roads would be the same. If it wasn't for that bloody Cook Strait ferry a lot more people would venture back and fro. The weather is pretty shit here at the moment,  :cuss  10 degrees and drizzle so I will be investing in some nice warm riding gear.

And heated grips, I hear from those that have them here they are the best for colder climates.

Even thermal socks.
Cheers,
Gary

Yeah I have some heated grips off my old XS 1100, it didn't have a grunty enough alternator to run them but the previous owner of the ST assured me it has the bigger alternator fitted. It gets pretty cold here over winter, with minus 1 or 2 most mornings and quite hard frosts but I'm hoping the ST fairing keeps most of the wind chill off the vitals lol  :thumbs  I also just scored a practicly brand new Rjays TourTec flip front helmet of our auction site TradeMe for $31 ! The guy was having a massive clean out and just wanted everything gone . Good Ozzie helmet so I'm told.

Not sure if I should start a new topic for this but anyway.......Both my foot pegs are slightly angled back as if they are bent but there is no sign of damage to the aluminium mounting plate they attach to, even if the bike had fallen over the crash bar would take the brunt and even if the peg did hit it would just fold up, be interested to see what others look like.

Ok thanks. The gear lever movement took a bit of getting used to, sort of east-west rather than north-south if that makes any sense lol

Been busy painting today, slightly brighter red than the factory candy apple but looks good, run out of paint for the side maintainance covers and the mirror buckets so thinking of doing them gloss black for a bit of contrast, maybe ....

Cheers guys !  Seat is a bit  dodgy in places but it will do for now, got some ST1100 stickers for the front / side fairing coming from the USA, the ones on the panniers are aftermarket and look almost factory, the tank cover wing stickers are genuine Honda. Might look at fitting a taller screen to as Im 6'2" .
