A Proper "Golden Oldie"

Well this one may well have been refinished in the recent past, but in this case it's enhanced its appeal WOW:

That is beautiful.

I wish I had the money to spend on something like that. In the long term, it would have to be an investment. Something for my grandchildren!

Sure seems like a low range expectation.  A few interested parties will see that range left behind.
It appears to be factory fresh.  Is that 7 miles on the ODO?
Interesting offset pillion seat.  Lets the pillion see the road ahead, I guess.

It's VERY low Bill...regardless of whether it's a matching numbered bike...the air filters look like Vokes, or a very good copy thereof :thumbsup...rare and hard to come by...This bike has been restored and the ODO reset to zip.

... it's a very desirable 'B' Rapide with the Brampton forks and what looks like a correct rear frame member...will be watching this auction with interest as there is a Norvin (also under estimated in my view), and a Comet in the same auction.

Last year Black Shadows where around the $100k mark and I recently read that a shad in LA stunned the punters when it went for $127k :eek

Anyway, I reckon it'll pull closer to $60k  ;-*.

It would be a pity if it went for too much, as more likely to be parked and never ridden.

A mini guzzi. perhaps Honda copied Lilac when they made the CX500?

Mornin' John et al...

From what I remember Ito, the bloke who built it was apprenticed to Honda, heck even his tank logo is almost the same. I am not sure to whether, after his company folded he returned to Honda. Dunno.

But as U say, mimiced Guzzi and I think the 1100 is a CX with 2 extra cylinders with a large serving of ABS  o:)

A Very Good question Bill :think1...I think Lilac(1959) , GuzziV7 (1966), Cx and ST...but happy to be corrected  :thumb

Well...seems l was close...the Rapide made $58,500 :wink1

I still think the new owner still got a great deal nevertheless, particularly if the $37,000 realised for it's smaller varient Comet is an indicator.

The 'first ST' made $7,000 a grand below it's low estimate :fp I am aware that these wee bikes don't command the greatest of praise from many, but there aren't many of em about and this one looked a cracker.

Oh well, there ya's have it...tis good to know, "there's money to be made in some of them there motorsicles!"

Well, best be on me way, as I'm off to pick up a couple classics that I rather think are going to help fund me retirement ;-*

For $7000 it would have been a good way to start into classic bikes with something unusual.

I owned CX 500s and 650s before I bought MY st1100. I figured if a honda v twin is good (and they were) then a honda v 4 must be twice as good. Twas a good decision.....
