I farkled my OzSTOC Jacket
« on: March 31, 2015, 04:08:15 PM »
After the recent National Rally ride to Toowoomba and using the new custom OzSTOC Jacket on a FarRide I found I had problems using the zippers on the jackets vents when wearing my gloves. :'(

My other Jackets have a small tag on the zipper that works great, something I had got used to and needed a fix.

Well Chris had a solution for me and they work great. He started with a cord he called paracord to make the tags and used his Boy Scout knot tying skills. The cord was green and an attempt to dye the tags black didn't produce the finish that Chris was happy with, so he bought stretchy black 2mm cord from the camping shop and braided a knot at the end of the loop to give a tag to grab in gloves that feeds back through the Jacket zipper tag.

Here's the finish product and I'm a happy Pillion again, and even happier that I married a man who knows how to use his hands.  :rofl

Some keyrings can also make zips easier to use

What's the name of the knot?

It's was called either a slim or skinny Cobra hitch.....the proper Cobra hitch was to bulky for the tag when I tied one  :H as we wanted a tag that would lay back under the storm flap of the zip closure went with the skinny version :think1

Pockey is happy with the outcome  :like

That's good, because I was thinking they looked longer than necessary, and susceptible to getting snagged on things.

After the recent National Rally ride to Toowoomba and using the new custom OzSTOC Jacket on a FarRide I found I had problems using the zippers on the jackets vents when wearing my gloves. :'(

No gunna lie, this is genius.

The ride to and from Toowoomba was hindered only by my inability to open and close vent on the go without taking off my glove.

It seems I'm too stupid to have thought of this solution...

Smart enough to steal it though

Haven't been for a ride yet, but the flappy bits are no problem on my other jackets. Chris was a little worried about the flapping flappers flapping about and made them short enough to fit the flappers inside the flap that covers the zip so they didn't flap :Stirpot

You're nearly a hundred years late!  Weren't the Flappers those 1920s girls doing the dance in which they flapped their arms up and down?
