For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

at 5 am this morning, all was universal white out my kitchen window... footpath, roadway, and Football oval opposite. Hail was about 4 inches thick on the ground.

Only the plants, fences and guttering designated boundaries

At 5 am I wasn't looking outside my window, I was still asleep!

But it's been a really mild winter over the ditch here so far.  In Auckland, the minimum temperature on the longest night was the highest since records have been kept, 13 deg C minimum.  The first three days of this week have been great riding-to-work days, crisp, blue sky, little wind, just a treat.

Mind you, down south in the mainland they're getting the big storm which went through Victoria a few days ago, but that's bringing snow for the ski fields.

But I'm getting heated grips fitted to my bike today, the hands are the one part of me that suffers on these cold mornings.
