Yes, it is all tar now. The first bit out of Bingara is a bit ordinary (watch the cattle grids and wandering stock) but as you get closer to the dam its good tar. I'm going that way two up as it has lots of corners and ups and downs to make the ride interesting.

Hmmmm I'm just going up the highway from the Gold Coast, turning left at Yatala and making a left before Ipswich, just because the roads perfect, theirs bugger all corners, bugger all ups and downs and I can kick back and take in the views :runyay

Any thoughts on the return trip?

I have been considering the Gwyder from Glen Innes to Grafton, then Summerland Way to Casino and Kyogle. Then the choice is to return to Brisbane via Uki, Chillingham and Numinbah Valley or out to Woodenbong and the Mt Lindsay Hwy through Beaudesert.

Could consider the Lions road though might be a little late in the day by then. The big factor for me is that my other half will want to be home reasonably early (4:00 pm).

Another, not so appealing, option is Casino to Lismore, Bangalow and the freeway home, with all its 4 wheeled traffic.

I would hazard a guess that our friends would be keen to do the Gwyder as it is a great ride.

As another option, does anyone know the road from Warialda to Goondiwindi?

Inverell, Ashford, Texas and Inglewood might be an option for you.....less out of your way....OR if we riding the roads less travelled from here (Guyra) to south east QLD......Tenterfeild, Drake, Urbenville, Bonalbo, Woodenbong, to Rathdowney with a pleasant detour via Mt Barney road and back on track to Rathdowny.

Cheers

Interesting thoughts. Particularly Texas and Inglewood.
What are the roads like through there?

Straight and flat....all Tar though. The eastern option with both twisty roads and scenery appeals more to us. But if making a mile is more important then go west young man......cheers

 :thumbs  Like the twisties!!
I met with Harieg yesterday and mentioned that I have had the foot pegs on the ground a few times ....... think it made him shudder to think of it  :).
Talking with the other half this morning, we do have a bit of leeway timewise.
It also depends on the remainder of the group. I don't know if they tend to split up for the ride home or each go their own way. Maybe Streak is monitoring this and can give us a bit of feedback in that regard.

Dennis,

I've been considering coming back that way, as my Father is in Casino.  So I'll be popping in for a 'Cuppa' on the way home.  The other alternative for me is through Tenterfield and then down to Casino via the Bruxner Hwy (but it is a very twisty bit of road).  I'm torn because I've driven over both bits of road and want to do both on the bike.

I grew up in the Kyogle area, so always love an excuse to travel back through there.  I've always found the Lion's road is a quicker way back to Beaudesert than via Mt Lindsay.

I would enjoy company coming back through that way.

Cheers,
Gadget.

If anyone wants to have a cabin bed but can't fill a cabin let me know. As I have already paid for it someone may as well use it, as if they can't rent it I am out of pocket anyway.  I will have to let them know the name(s) of those who would be using it.

Hi all, unfortunately the cabin Saaz had available has already been rebooked :'(

So I was wondering if anyone would happen to have a spare bed available?

Hi all,
My Boss (note, with a capital B) says I can go to this RTE. I just wish she had said so earlier, but that is probably my fault for not being a bit more pushy about it. The problem is that the Fossicker's Rest is now full, so I too am wondering if there is a spare bed floating around. I'm happy to pay my way - no problems with that. I've been looking at the Twin Swans Motel as an alternative and would be happy to go down that route if I have to. I must point out that I snore... so the motel might be the best option. It looks like it is easy walking distance from the Fossicker's.

Hi Shiney, it's $10.00 per person, not too sure on the linen I don't think it much though. I will wear the cost of the cabin, it has an outside on suite .I only need a place to sleep. I passed on the hot tub. Next trip
